Hi,

I'm using Streamyx and I want to set up my MS Outlook Express to receive emails. I can send emails but I can't receive any emails. I always get an error from my smtp server:

There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'pop.streamyx.com', Server: 'pop.streamyx.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Authentication failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

I've done the steps as instructed in tm.net website on how to configure the Outlook Express at least 3 times. I've set it up again using tutorials from microsoft website once but it still doesn't work. I've tried accessing my email account from webmail.tm.net.my and I can receive emails. Can someone help me figure this out? Thank you.

Have you verified that the incoming server name is correctly inserted. If problem still persist, you need to call up TM Net and ask for help. Cheers.

You may want to try to delete your current account on your OE, and then re-create it back.

Prior doing that, delete, your username andpassword, re-key in...if that doent resolve your problem, then do as above.

I think I saw the cause of the problem. You did mention this error message -

Account: 'pop.streamyx.com'

You account was set to pop.streamyx.com
That is not your account but the name of the mail server.
If your userid is "cryssie" for example, then please check if you had set it as pop.streamyx.com - if so, please set it as cryssie@streamyx.com

If you still can't get to read your mail, did you know that you don't really need Outlook to get mail? It is possible to read your mail just like you do for Yahoo or Hotmail because streamyx mail can also be read as webmail.

All you need to do is open your web-browser. Either Internet Explorer (IE) or Firefox will work. If you use IE, just click on File and select Open. This opens up a small window to type your website address. Alternatively, just type on the website address window found just below the icons in the top border of the IE window.

The web address to use is simply - webmail.streamyx.com - and you will get a login screen for your mail. As you can see, this is very useful especially when you need to access your email at a cybercafe or while you are using someone else's computer. You do not need to set up Outlook, just use the web-browser.

One thing to remember when you use the webmail - the mailbox is of a limited size. So you need to delete unwanted mail. Once deleted, make sure you empty the trash folder in the webmail otherwise your email server will be full and you can't receive new mail. If you use Outlook, all mail from the server is downloaded to your PC and your mailbox is kept clean everytime you read your mails - but not when you use webmail.
