Anyone knows who buys plastics/PETs (not animals!), glass, aluminium cans, tetrapak cartons for recycling? There's a lot of talk on recycling but not enough info on where to send the stuff for sale.

I believe loose-hyphen was refering to the sudden demand for recycleable plastics caused by the high petroleum prices. We know the usual collection centers do accept plastics but the question is have they started accepting plastics for a higher price than before or are there other new collectors who are willing to pay more for plastics?

Kwchang is right. We have those people who ply our streets with "Ol' newspapers! $3.50 a handspan!" but nothing on glass, aluminium, and plastics. Aside from the usual dumping areas, are there actual buyers for the stuff whom the public can contact? Do the present collection centres currently pay for what they collect? I have been dumping my stuff into the public collection bins for free.

BTW, Giant has stopped collecting anything other than newspapers and cardboard, but when they were operational previously, they didn't accept PETs, which are what the drinking water bottles are. And despite the ads on TV about recycling, I can't access their website kitarsemula.com.

FYI,there is few hundred types of plastics n not all o f them can be recycled.PET,PP,PVC are most popular recyclable plstic.while ABS is harder to recycle due to their hardness,it can b found in computer plastic cover or monitor cover.their price do increase due to crude price increase.but the recycler wont increase the price unless u have the volume they want.

This thread titled "Scrap Computer Junks Collection Service" is it all about cleaning the environment or the modern c2b (consumer to business) junk collection private business? If it is about the environment, I don't see anything useful I can learn here everytime I click on the link when there is a new posting by someone except that someone just pose a question which can be easily handled via private messaging instead of bumping the thread for nothing. This thread and another similar one elsewhere is all about the way ah chee does his junk collection business and I think it has gone too far. I remember I crossed swords with ah chee before on this matter and till today I am still not convinced that this is not all about business.
