Gotten this inspiration to share some best places for steaks..err..since it's gonna be PAYDAY! soon for most of us.. :p

My favourite has always been Jake's Charbroiled and Victoria Station (the former is better) but I'm one who would eat a steak just about anywhere when I feel for it but have not much money to lavish myself..like in a kopitiam where the auntie would serve some Mcdonald's french fries and toast with the steak! hehe...
Oh yes, also tried the steak at Logenhaus Taipan. Pretty good and more affordable..

But what is your favourite cut of the steak? The best steaks..in terms of tenderness, are cut from the loin which include the Filet mignon, Porterhouse, T-bone, and top loin strip. However..steaks cut from the chuck which are round, and flank are much less expensive and less tender, but they are very flavorful.

My favourite is the rib-eye...cut from the rib-eye roast. It is flavorful, tender, and fairly expensive. I prefer it grilled..medium to well-done. This steak is also called the 'Beauty Steak' :D :)

Most ppl also like u would prefer rib-eye..as for me, i wouldn't know part of cows whicheva is good and bad ... as long as it tastes well n flavorful it's really good enuff for me ... the rest i really leave it up to the chef to do all their work ...

If they hv done a good job, we should be able to know cos we enjoyed it .. if it's not .. then the chef really need to go back to school for their lessons ...
So far, i've tried The Ship, Coliseum, San Franciso Steakhouse, TGIF ... they are GOOD!! :)

Place like Victoria & Windmill are so so only ... dun really prefer it there. U would be surprise some kopitiam shops serves good steaks too ... although i dunno which part they giving as long as after eating it , am satisfied am my stomach is filled .. dunno if some of u have heard of Yut Kei in KL near Dang Wangi LRT station .. their pork chop is good!! :p

I guess i really need to learn more bout parts of cow that is nice to munch on!! hehe ..

Kokomo, where is San Francisco Steakhouse today? Do you know? I couldn't find it in Summit the other day..and had lamb shank at Secret Recipe instead..but no regrets, the gravy and lamb was fantastic.

Anyway, haven't tried Coliseum..heard that the uncles there very 'eksi' one huh..or was it the very old Coliseum where the fans would seem to fall on your heads anytime..hehe..but yes, they serve one of the best steak in town, that's what I heard.

TGIF is ok.. :)

San Francisco Steakhouse in Summit is jz next to Black Canyon Coffee there .. otherwise u can try it at MidValley hehe .. Yep, Secret Recipe food not bad ... dunno whether u've also tried their beef ball spagetti anot? I recommend u to try that!! :D

Coliseum, in KL dunno what road is that also, each time wanna go there, must wait for my parents to take me .. can't really recognise the roads there, hehe .. :o If u know where is Globe Silk Store it's actually same road wif it .. but opposite side .. yes, those unlces there, hav been serving ppl since centuries ago ... they know very well what they're doing ... and servis is fast too .. smoky inside there cos most of them would take those sizzling steak ..

Their chicken rice also not bad ... a lot 'kuai lo' all go there for their meal ... tis place is damn well known already ... ;)

Coliseum is in Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, where Sogo is. Wouldn't advise you to go there if you are on a date as you would be smelling like a sizzling steak after your meal. You get the "normal" treatment in such places where there are a lots of gweillos - as if our money is worth less! :(

There's a place called Rib Shop (Non-halal), I think, just behind Jake and Victoria. They serve excellent finger licking good ribs but a bit pricey. When there's not much left in my pockets, I will go to this place in PJ, somewhere near some flats, very popular with the UM crowd and they serve yummy steaks.

Emergence of mad cow disease has made me move from ordering medium well to well done!

All this talk of steaks is making me salivate.......... :o , unfortunately, on rabbit food diet, need to salivate longer. :D

I love The Ship's (DJ) steaks best. The black pepper steak is simply juicy, tender and delicious to the point it lands in your stomach bag. Great to go with escargots and indonesian oxtail soup as appetisers...mmm mmm. :D

.. dunno if some of u have heard of Yut Kei in KL near Dang Wangi LRT station .. t

This place has been around for a good 30+ years. hainanese owned and the children had taken over for the past 10-15yrs...good food, reasonable pricing & great swiss rolls.

For many years, this used to be a fave lunch spot for us...until it occurred once too many times:
Dead flies making too many cameo appearances in the fried beehoon & mee and also cameos in the chicken chops.

u go check out their kitchen at the back to understand why...

Steak.. my favourite, I am surprise no one mention Castell (PJ) they serve one of the best steak in town, they used to have a range of food in their menu, but now they only serve steak as they make it best. Jake's are good too but don't go to the new one in Starhill, very expensive, don't blame them, need to pay rent.

Has anyone eaten steak at Avanti, the Italian restaurant in Sunway Pyramid Hotel? Thanks.

just tried the Logenhaus with my wifey last night, to our suprise the price was quite reasonable compared to other steak house in that area.
Me ordered a sizzling steak, ordered medium rare~ :D But when it's served, the steak has become well done :( due to the hot sizzling plate :( Next time must order rare if it's sizzling steak. Dunno why I keep on repeating this mistake when ordering sizzling steak.
But it's a first time I saw a sizzling steak doesn't come with any gravy/sauce at all, and served with an bull's eye egg :p Or did they forgot to serve the sauce?
Overall the food is yummy... but a bit dry due to no sauce/gravy and the beef was well done... Next time will try the sirloin or rib eye, MEDIUM RARE~!!! yummy and juicy :D

Anyway~ so far the best flavorful steak (not quite steak lar, beef cube and ribs to be exact :p) I have tasted so far is when I was in Seoul, Korea.
We were hunting for food around night time, then we stumble upon one of this Korean BBQ restaurant in a corner. So we decided give it a try, order beef, ribs, and some pork for those doesn't take beef.
We sat down in front of this tiny low table, with a hole in the middle, and the owner put in a pot of red hot charcoals covered with a grill.
All the meat wasn't marinated at all... and he'll help us to chop the steak into small cubes and put it on the grill, same with the ribs also, and we'll help ourself with the grilling :D
I had my beef medium rare, just dip abit with the sauce (dunno what sauce issit, maybe vinegar with sugar) and eat it... and it's the most tender, juiciest, sweetest beef I ever had in my whole life!! :D First I thought the sweetness is from the sauce, but when I have it without the sauce, it's still sweet! :D I can tell you it's heavenly yummy yummy~~ First time and only time in my life tasted a beef which is sweet ;)
After came back to KL, rush to Ampang's Korean BBQ to try... but it's such a big dissapointment :( it tasted totally different... Maybe it's the different breed of cow they used.

Btw... anyone tried the "legendary" Kobe Beef before?? Too bloody expensive for me lar. Saw it on the menu of Genji Japanese Restaurant, Hilton PJ before... very tempted to order it and try... but there wasn't any price tag.. so better not, later kena slaughter both by my wifey and the restaurant. Former for paying so much for a tiny piece of beef and latter for able to charge me any amount for that so called "legendary" beef. :p

Yes , have tried Sommerset Grill in taman tun. But i was not too keen on the steak so i orderd the grilled salmon. Very GOOD! The steak was too small for my guy friend. If its steak you are looking for i will always go back to victoria station or SAN FRANSISCO STEAK HOUSE.
