This evening 2 Indian youth banging at my front gate in USJ 4 asking me to come out from the house. They told me they are the appointed security service in USJ 4 and ask me to pay RM 30. When I asked them which security company they represent, they refuse to tell. I refuse to pay them and told them I need to verify their claims with MPSJ or USJ Police Station first. Within 5 minutes they called 6 motocycles parking in front of the house with the engine running to harrass me. All of them are Indian youth. One of the Indian youth even wear a vest resembling the police uniform with the word "SECURITY" printed on the back. They told me if I don't pay I may have masalah keselamatan. When I threaten to call the police then only they leave my house.

Can anybody tell me whether there is a security company being authorized to collect protection money from USJ residents ? Who appoint them ? Should I pay ?

I was a bit tired after a hard day work.. It never occur to me to take down their bike numbers. Anyway, I was standing inside the house and it was too dark and difficult to see the numbers. It look like gangsters are marking their territories in USJ area. Honestly, I felt threaten by these hooligans. In the last five years, I have never seen a police patrol car passed by my area. Look like our police are too busy with their agenda.

Dear ckloh60,

Although i am not usj 4 resident but i noticed that a " Jaga Pondok " has been built @ Jalan usj 4/4D, beside the New Appollo Restoran few month ago.

That mean your place usj 4 ( don't know what jalan are cover by them) is having a security service cover by a private security company. But by law you has the right to pay or not to pay. The choice is yours !!!

have u reported this harassment to the USJ8 police station? Go see the OC there. He will do something.

Please do not blame the cops for every fault, pimple and hooligan in yr area...DO SOMETHING about it. And the EASIEST is to make a police report...just spare the time.

No worry... I have done some background check, I believe this youngster are over enthusiatic in wanting to provide secuiities services. I have also enquired from MPSJ, I was advised not to pay them any money.

Don't get me wrong, I am not blaming the police. What I meant is, this area is relatively peaceful so far, there is no need for the police to be around. I believe the local police here has done a good job. Touch wood, so far so good. I have confidence in the MPSJ to look into this aspect and taking the lead on behalf of the residents here.

Honestly we are asking for trouble. Nowadays everyone esp. in USJ is so paranoid about safety & security. Yes, it is an issue from the day we were born and we cannot run away from it. But in USJ, our crime rate is not that widespread & personally I don't think we need to engage security services.

If it is a proper security company, that's fine BUT it will be too expensive which I think none of us will want to pay. So we ended up getting a cheap one, likely to be one man setup which he will then recruit some jobless folks with no experience in security at all.

So, for this case of harrasment experience by CKLOH, maybe this guy heard of USJ folks desperate of security & he quickly take this opportunity to make easy extra bucks. But seem like he is not offering security services BUT protection services, the gangster style.

The day will come when we turn them down too much, I won't be surprise if they take the next step to ensure we engage their services, If you know what I meant.

CKLOH, my advise is these people won't let go easily. Just be careful.

Honestly, USJ folks, we are inviting trouble here...making it worse.

I agreed with BTK, that those that paid for the "security service", actually encourage these "security" people to "kacau" others residents that don't pay them, for example smashed car windows parked outside the house.

What kind of guarantee that those that paid, that their life and property will be protected by these "security" people. They are actually paying for a false sense of security.

For those "takut", they should move into a gated community. Don't encourage a gated community in USJ

just leave it to the houseowners to decide what is good for themselves...whether it is false sense of security or not...who are we to decide for them? It's their property....

I agreed with you that the houseowners have their right to decide whether to hire these "security" people.

I also have my right to have peaceful nights, without having these "thugs" knocking my gate for "protection" money.

The majority of residents in my area do not want them. The police is fully aware that this so-called 'security' service provider are not welcome in my area...and OC had personally & nicely spoken to the 'security' company owner.

The few who have signed up in haste are regretting their actions...they paid up and now the so-called security are not around for the lack of economies of scale. It is strictly a business call for the 'provider'. We wish them luck elsewhere, but NIMBY applies here.
