RHB just sent a notice to My1 Account Holders.

Effective 1st January 2006, a fee of RM5 will be charged for account holders with average daily balance of below RM5000. The half yearly fee of RM10 will be discontinued and replaced by RM5 per month, or effectively RM60 per year, from RM20 per year now.

Banks are making tonnes of profit from the miserable amount I have now deposited with them by lending my money to borrowers.

Now, I am to be charged RM5 per month?

I dont mind paying RM0.50 per check issued, or there about, but RM5 per month is robbery.

that is precisely why i am leaving my rhb my 1 account with zero balance...they even had a chit to debit for the annual fees eventhough balance in my account during that time is insuffient to that annual fees amount....

not just that...when they debited that amount, my account overdrawn and because of that overdrawn, they debit me further for that overdrawn fees....

now i just leave the account with ZERO balance, never use the account again....

all banks are robbers actually.................

I am also a RHB My 1 account holder. Just heard that RHB started charging RM5 for each Banker's cheque too. Used to be RM2.00 + RM0.15 tax. Newbies, thanks for info about RHB extra charges over zero amount in account. I will make sure I cancel my account & switch to Maybank next week. :(

What makes you think that Maybank is any better? Most likely that all these charges are across the board. I would advise checking out what the other banks have to offer first. Don't just jump from the frying pan into the fire.

Banks have been srewing customers for the last few years when their profit was not going up. Their income from non-fee income does not cover their fat asses of the employees so they start playing around with fee incomes.Every one owes them a living that's why we are all taken for rides. The failure lies with BNM & not with the commercial banks. This is what happens when you have an organisation being run exclusively by one particular race. Please lah, don't bring race into this...I know many bankers of diff keturunan from me and they are REAL professionals with REAL qualifications from REAL universities (not some unknown yank's or whatever). ALso not all banks are run by just one race. where got one? Only in Mat Salleh country got lah.

We always have a choice to choose the bank that do not or minimum charge for such 'un-needed' services. We 'want' all sorts of conveniences but do we really 'need' them?

Me? I don't have enuff to worry about $uch charge$...the money is not mine if it wa$ in the bank. When I $pend it then only it$ mine...so alway$ beruk broke lah.:D :D

ALso ah, the m'sian banking industry was and still is overstaffed and inefficient. They are at least 3 years behind S'pore, in product&services development. 5 behind HKong and 10yrs behind the yanks. It will be interesting when 2007 WTO sets in...we'll see what will happen

Amongst the local banks I find Public bank the most efficient in terms of service. Long queues are dispensed with quickly and i dont think it has to do with race but rather with management. How and what the management expects its staff to do and how efficient they are, if they are properly monitored would lead to greater efficiency. If people's livelihood depends on their performance then they will perform. If they work in an organization that does not really bother whether they perform or not or when they know that the company will not sack them because they know who and who, then they will not perform irrespective of their race.

Hi, aRwEn, I just checked 2 days ago with Public bank on their basic current account. No monthly charges. They only charge RM10 per six months if you have less than certain amount in your account. (Most other banks' current accounts do anyway)

So, by January, I will close my RHB my-1 account and switch to Public bank basic current account.
