One of my all-time favourite is the Split by Walls (I think). It is limed outside and vanilla inside. I'd normally finish up the lime and leave the vanilla for last. Really nice...and cheap, also conveniently sold at most petrol stations.

and Hagen Daaz chocolate chips with vanilla...how do I describe it...and the fruity ones with vanilla are so nice too...

not forgetting the ais-krim potong at the pasar malam :p ..love the red bean ones.. :o

What's your favourite ice-cream?

Talking about Wall's Split, I remember savoring it when I was a kid. Do you remember the ice cream stick was white plastic and it had a whistle built in!..
Those were the days!

Perhaps common knowledge by now that all Walls ice cream are now imported!.. Cheaper to manufacture from our neighboring countries..chiefly Thailand and Indonesia.

But if cost no object, I'd luv Swensens anytime!.. :D

This reminds me of some methods of eating the Split, finish all the lime layer first and leave the vanilla for the finale !!!! yum yum..... :D

I'm a regular to swenson too. I agree that their rum&raisins is of inferior quality in comparison let say 1 year ago. Try Baskin Robbin rum&raisin in my opinion it is better than swenson at the moment. Though im not really a Baskin Robbin fan, but im honest to say it's better than Swenson now which abt a year ago Swenson's rum&raisin is da best for me, untouchable..........

Rum & Raisins? Sounds gud..Just wonder, have any of you guys ever had a Swensen's earthquake? Kokomo, can you possibly finish one? :p Fatslab, you should have no problem huh..(haha..just judging from your nick)

In Pyramid, I remember a New Zealand ice-cream (can't remember the name)..similar to Baskin Robbins, just as good. But this word has to come now..Pricey.. :p

Bought Wall's durian icecream tub the other day. Supposedly a new flavour. Very delicious and smooth indeed. Very much better than the durian icecreams more than 10 yrs ago which tasted powdery.

You think so? I could try...hehe..

But no, don't really fancy Swensen's nowadays cos had it the last time at Subang Parade and it wasn't so nice..not cold enuff like some of you mentioned, and gosh the chocolate fudge was really too sweet. And the cream..hmmm..
Used to patronise the D'sara Jaya branch but dunno if they're still there...since the 'incident' with the dumb-waiter. Anyone remembers it? Poor waiter..

I agree almost all of Walls are pretty good. And conveniently available..I have Magnum urge at times, the plain classic ones. Don't fancy the almond ones tho..

One thing about ice-creams...I get hooked to them. I usually don't order sundaes at McD, but recently they give free sundaes for every large value meal (coupon needed) which I gladly savoured. Now I seem to need a hot fudge sundae everytime I eat at McDs. :D

Meaning you haven't heard of the dumb-waiter incident. Someone actually got stuck in there and had his body crushed in it or something, many many years ago, in the early 90s I think..

Actually yes, I like the hot fudge too! and do ya know, with extra 50cents, one could actually have it filled with extra fudge after you're halfway done and wanna have more fudge? I've tried it! :D

It was at Swensens DJ. The waiter's head was crushed. Still recall I was meeting my friend there months after the incident, and there was this lady that got fits and fainted. A doc had to be called in to revive her. Why she convulsed remains a mystery.

Then they could be rumours..but anyhow, if this kinda incident truly happened, it sure must've been very gory and painful, way to go..

Okie back to ice-creams..remembering a 'Viennetta' or something..like a loaf in a square box? That is pretty good too. If not mistaken, it's a Walls too..

Hmm....you must be a diehard choc lover. For me, I'd spoon the vanilla ice-cream in such a way than only slivers of hot fudge sticks onto it. yummy...

Maybe Swensens ice cream got palm oil that may alter the taste ahh?...if am not mistaken, all locally manufactured..
Local canned milk products contain palm oil so I'm speculating the ice cream does too!.

kokomo
26-11-2005, 01:37 PM
Be it palm oil or not also , there should be certain quality & tempature control on ice-cream .. otherwise Swenson will be losing their business soon enuf...
