Haha..welcome Mon to Kokomo's 1st thread in Cari Makan? Okie, I had 2 bananas on Sat morn. Then nothing at all till Sat night. Went to North Port Klang with friends for seafood at Port Village..It was good, we had steamed patin fish, mantis prawns, deep fried beancurd, fried lala vercimelli, sweet sour crabs and 'man tau' to dip into the crab sauce..Wah, this is bad, my tummy got engine noise liao.. :o ..err..no supper after that, just an iced-milo late into the night..

Sunday, went to check out this Sarawak Laksa at Bangsar, (it's in the migration thread)..went shopping at Low Yat, had teh tarik and kampung half-boiled eggs at the Kopi-Tiam for teabreak...and...a pack of maggi for dinner.. :)

Hope we won't be the only 2 here.. :D Have to get ready for classes liao Kokomo..have fun!

ps: Kokomo, the only time I was at Red Box was for karaoke..didn't know the chick wings were nice? Am now waiting for the VIP card my bro applied for me..then I'd go again and check out the snacks too..while cranking up the volume..hehe..bye.

For Sat nite event ...

Wow!! Ur meal on sat nite was much granner than mine!! :( I didn't had anything for breakfast n lunch till tea-time @ Chatters USJ11, their tuna n sardine sandwich ... which is not bad .. or maybe i'm jz hungry  hehe .. then later on at nite, I went to Wine Cottage for a few drinks of red wine , gotten too hungry, went down the road at Ole Cafe wif my friend had a corned beef pita which is actually, minced beef in the pita .. not bad though .. :D

Then i cont. at lil havana for some drinks ... after that to that Red Box in sg. wang wif few other friends .. they ordered tis chicken wings, chicken nuggets .. and fried prawns ... overall , jz the prawns ain't so fresh n its pretty small ... :( Got chased out from red box management cos its closing time at 4am .. then we adjourned to jln alor there , was supposingly to hv that Wong Ah Wah chicken wings but it's closed then went across the street for 'tai chow' .. had their fried sotong (deliciously good) haha ... some were having their buggers ..oppss i mean burgers .. :o

Never ever eat their Hokkein mee .. not good!!! All tis eating n drinking fiesta ended at 5.15am ..

Now Sun nite ...

Went to OUG - Citrus Food Empo there , tried that Penang Recipe .. had tis Nyonya Fried Rice Mushroom .. not bad .. Asam Laksa n Curry Mee .. plus their Fried Kuey Teow .. not bad!! But for their Otak otak .. not pure penang style .. so it's not nice at all also .. Cos of all tis food .. at lot of MSG .. feelin' kinda thirsty .. so went to Beach Garden in subang mewah .. for drinks ... :D
That's wat i called satisfaction !!

Ok, my turn...let's see....
Sat lunch was a quick one...wolf down a bowl of 'nga poh yee mee' (my favorite), in about 4 mins. Then had to rush down to Eastin for a friend's wedding rehearsal...got to play the wedding coordinator :D Too bad the food tasting session was over.
Dinner...attended a friend's full moon baby party. Lots of food like rice, fried mee, grilled lamb, fried chicken, butter prawns, veggies, jelly and fruits. Not to forget ang koo and hard boiled eggs. The catered food was fresh since it was cooked on the spot. The veggie tasted kinda funny though. :p

Sunday was supposed to try the fondue house steamboat but had Korean food instead. Ate at Korea House...they have either ala carte or bbq. The bbq is a bit pricey, around RM 45 for 1 person portion. Ala carte was more reasonable at RM 18 per set.
Anyway, had the beef in kimchi soup, and mixed vegetable rice with some minced beef. The beef in kimchi soup was simply delicious! The thinly sliced raw beef is put into the boiling kimchi soup. They used the metal bowl which is the same material as the hot plates (sizzling mee). So, the beef was not too cooked, slightly pinkish in color. :p
On top of that, we were given 14 different kinds of kimchi side dishes, which included cabbage, sliced boiled egg, mushroom, thinly sliced cuttlefish?(not sure) and 2 soups (plain and spicy). After that, we were served slices of watermelon and honeydew. Wooh!!! A very good meal....
And the price? RM36 for 2 persons!! Worth every penny :D
This place is located on the first floor, and the decor is very nice too.

Dinner was much simpler. Had paprik fried rice at Sec 17 mamak stall, the corner one (Rafi rest...I think). A bit too spicy if u ask me. But the milo shake is really very nice and 'kaw', even though a tad too sweet. Woke up this morning and stomach was burning a little bit due to the paprik...but ok now :p

So far, the best sashimi / japanese food in Subang Jaya is at Rakuzen....it is located at the shop lots facing the traffic lights at SJMC.I'm not sure it the shop lots there are called ss15....The place is a little bit pricey..but the sashimi is really great there......So is the Unagi rolls....the tofu salad......the rice dishes....yum yum yum...if it weren't quite pricey, I'd be there almost daily!!!! Try it out!

Good morninnnnnnng! :)

Last Saturday, no lunch for me, had flu, went to sleep right after my half day work! Woke up around 4pm, fried 2 eggs eat with bread. Dinner I had PAN MEE at Good Year Court, nice PAN MEE but I prefer to eat without the minced meat so that is not oily!

Sunday, no breakfast had late lunch at a small Penang stall in 1 Utama New Wing opposite the Giant Supermarket. Ordered Penang Style Chee Cheong Fun, Fried Kuey Teow (all my husband's fav) myself had a banana leaf pack mee siam and 1 piece of kuih (these 2 items from the stall next door).
Did a bit of window shop and after the Chicken Little Movie still feeling full.

Went to Aman Suria Condo's area, along the NKVE where there is a seafood and KFC along the highway, was looking for something special to eat, but ended up at this shop name boabao, a shop selling pan mee....hmmm.....not so nice if compare to Good Year Court!
DON'T GO! not worth it! RM4.20 a bowl. They serve Pan Mee soup and dry. Soup has either traditional cooking, or special. 3 choices with no menu no price list!

Weekend.......hmmm...today is wednesday...looking forward for the coming weekend lor.....and looking forward to go Kluang Station in 1 Utama :D

I tried the Jap Food in Carrefoure last week. DON...or something like that...can't remember! Not bad, but a bit pricey. More expensive then Genki Sushi (my all time fav) basically each plate 0.90 cents more expensive then Genki!

If can go to the Genki Sushi in KLCC...more varieties. What KLCC outlet serves may not serve in other's outlet!

I love Japanese food too...especially the raw salmon ! Normally I will go for Japanese buffet in the hotel for Japanese food. I felt that it is more value added and cheaper than order "a la cart" menu in the Japanese restaurant. The first dish that I normally will take is the raw salmon :D and dip into the soya sauce with "wasabi". :p
The Japanese buffet in Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel, PJ Hilton, Shangri La K.L. is good, the most recent sushi that I tried is in Sudu, Hilton KL. Though it is not a Japanese buffet but the appetizers are like japanese food with fresh Salmon, oyster, fresh prawns etc So nice to eat...so satisfactory! :p
The next hotel that I'm going to try is Sheraton Subang or Holiday Villa, hopefully end of next month!

kokomo/ mon, i am not sure if the hokkaido fair is still on at rakuzen. tried their hokkaido fair sushi set abt 3 weeks ago, it is really great as the set incl sea urchin and salmon roe. recommended for testing.

IMHO, genki and sushi king's standard have dropped, previously they are pretty decent. nowadays, not so.

mon

Good move there Kokomo. Might join True Fitness soon to work it out..and also to get away from the troubles of life. There must be something good I could do for myself rather than just eat. Hmm...Haha.

Again at Janbo?..not soon. It was pretty scary having too much. Today, I'd prefer something light, or nothing at all. Feeling stuffed emotionally. Time to take a good break. Take a dive into the pool perhaps. Or just watch people eat. Err..sorry ar, today I'm a bit blue. Any food remedy for feeling blue? Nah..just kidding.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Hot Cocoa in de morning then went back to sleep. :D If that's not fattening, what is.

After my last posting this morning, went for chicken lice & beef noodle at SS2.

Had a good time window shopping with my closest friend at Ikea this whole afternoon, had a cuppa capuccino at their swedish cafe..much later, an ice-cream vanilla cone.. :)

For dinner, went to Damansara Utama with hubby and had Thai food at Vichuda's. This restaurant, serves really cheap & good food. Had tom yam seafood, kunyit fried squid, telur dadar and kangkung belachan. The extra belachan with fresh cucumbers and long beans was heavenly, hot and spicy! All for RM22 only, incl. 3 lime juices.

Harry Potter at 9pm. Had coke and pop corns. After, had teh tarik ice at Sri Anggerik at USJ2. Yuks bland and tasteless. No more.

Don't pour so much of their soya sauce ... very salty. Service is convenient & good. Pricing is acceptable for such food & service.

Then on Sunday, which is yesterday went to Tak Fuk seafood in Kepong. Tried out Sakea Sushi in Subang Parade on Sunday.

Full house at lunch time. Prices are reasonable. Ordering online direct to kitchen is a convenience, they delivered one of the items quickly enough, but the other sushi plate too forever to come, and the sizzling plate is not sizzling, lukewarm at most, when they served it to me. WTF?

Not a great dining experience, I'm afraid. Sushi quality is on par or slightly better than Sushi King, to me it's still at the low end for sushi restaurants. :( But Sushi King at least serves their kitchen prepared foods fast and still hot.

Will not go back to Sakea Sushi again, unless the crowd subsides, I think both their outlets in The Curve and SP are overated and overcrowded, I also didn't bother to return to The Curve outlet after experiencing similar below par service.

Aiyah, no where in KL can u find the genuine Shanghai siewlongpau, as the portions are soo small here and tastes like any other dumplings.

The famous Shanghai dumpling is located inside Yu Yuen, Nanxiang Dumpling shop, but the meat has a peculiar smell which some of us are not used to as Malaysians are used to our pork being a bland meat, not as pungent. . Their crab + meat dumpling taste so so to me also.

The one which had me going for 2 consecutive days by taking a taxi at 7am and making a big detour b4 going to office, is called Chiachia Dumpling at Chungshan Road near the Tungjiatu Road(translations, their name card is in Mandarin only).

Their shanghai hairy crab dumpling is to DIE FOR!!! A big basket of 15 crab filled dumplings for RMB70, wah, I can finish the whole basket. :p They also hv a main branch an Henan-nan lou(Hunan South Rd) but that one at Chungsan Rd is just great for me. I missed that, man... :(

Saturday went to 1U, saw this new Nyonya corner over at the old wing 1st floor. A lot of ppl were tryin' out the food there cos its nyonya food and hv a some varieties of it. So went there and tried their nasi kunyit wif chicken curry ... this is nice! Their thai curry laksa .. ain't so good, tasteless. Santan kochi also not as good as taiping lim's nyonya kueh .. but their pulut panggang is nice. So food recommended is:-

1. Nasi kunyit wif chicken curry
2. Pulut panggang
3. Cincau
4. Simple nasi lemak
5. Cikodok (damn long didn't eat and dunno where to find around subang)

Sunday, I went to this PJ 60's Teochew fishball noodle. Finally, tried their fried sui kow, inside they also use those fresh fish paste, very nice!

At nite, went to Kg Subang Kwai Lam Seafood. Ordered steam crab & kam heung crab, vege, hokkien mee hoon, fried chicken wings, a bottle of beer n some other drinks .. wahhh ... that is soul satisfying ..

Went to this little restaurant tucked away in Plaza Sri Setia for some home style cooking. We used to eat at their Old Klang Road restaurant b4 the old buildings were cleared for road expansion and haven't any idea where they moved to. The I read this by coincident in The Star last Fri...what got my attention was Lai Meng's picture from Empat Sekawan, then when I read on, only recognized the owners when they mentioned the old restuarant name.

http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2006/7/7/central/14734768&sec=central

My fav food there are the Lotus root with streaky pork in clay pot(ling ngau fah lam pou), their footau kau yoke(pork with Yam) and the ribs with marmite or Guinness. Their tapioca cake is very popular too. It's a hearty Hokkien style cooking, nice food, reasonable priced, and was packed last weekend probably due to the article, many long lost customers came back(like me) some even brought the Star article to find the restaurant, hahaha.

Although its only a weekday, I had another food explore again. This time is to klang tong yuen and their mua chi. Was there a bit late, so their BIG tong yuen have already been sold out, so left only the small ones. Ordered their mua chi wif lotsa kacang on it and some coconut as well. Something diff and its nice. The tong yuen is a bit strong wif the ginger in it but then is good and smooth.

After that I adjourn to the next stall, an old man been there for many years .. fried kuey teow! Smell is there but the taste slack a bit. Well, not too bad after the tong yuen.

Next after half an hour, went all the way straight down to SS2 to have this fried "si ham" & fried lala. Damn long didn't eat those stuff, its really satisfying. What else, to have these must go wif some beers. Haha .. ain't that life!

Now can't sleep, that's why in here posting. :(

Mua chi, they have nice ones in PJ, SS2 area also but I still prefer the ones in Klang. Those stayin' in Klang and loves to eat definitely would know this place. Is in port klang, quite far.

Enter from Klang toll ... go all the way straight until you reach port klang, is on the left hand side before a traffic light, you can see a blue signboard there. Exactly at the corner is the stall.

Regines, if ya still confuse then you have to bring me along already. Hehe .. :)

I was just wondering here, have any of you tried this new soyabean steamboat? Last week, I went there to check it out wif my friends. Cos it was on promo buy 3 free 1 for only RM17.90

Anyway, it seems that its the first in M'sia and quite a number of ppl actually went there to try. Their soyabean is salty, please ... don't expect it to be sweet. The owner of the place will ask you to try the soyabean before addin' more to it. See if you like it or not. Really unusual and after putting in all the prawns & veges & eggs, the soyabean soup base got better.

This shop is in Sunway Mentari the new area. Behind Project station & name of the shop is Tasty Pot. :)

Hey, kokomo, u stole my thread, hahahaha!

Yep, I just tried Tasty Pot last weekend too. They have a promotion with additional 15% discount for the 17.90/pax price from 5.30pm-8.30pm, or 30% off after 10pm for the BBQ set.

I like the soy bean soup, nice fresh light taste I can just drink it like that and it gets better when u add more ingredients to the soup. And the service is pretty good too, especially from the pretty lady boss(?) hahahaha ;)

Haha .. I went there in a group so took the other promo buy 3 free 1. Yea, the lady boss is pretty so now you know why there are lotsa young ppl hangin' around there? Haha ... :D

I wonder where they got the idea to use soyabean as the steamboat soup base.

Hah!! No wonder I see a lot of young people there, u guys go there for makan or what? hahahaha :D

Soya bean soup? I guess must be a trend from Hong Kong or Taiwan? They also do the porridge soup base, tomyam and clear soup, everything under 1 roof, eh?

They serve Penang/nyonya style food for lunch too. I'm gonna try out one of these days. I've run out of ideas for lunch lately, sian... so this will be a decent air-conditioned place for inexpensive lunch. Their promo price: Rm7.90 for lunch set.

Yea, everything under 1 roof but not all that is nice. The lady boss wanted to top up our normal soup but accidentally brought the porridge over, I saw from the jug it was like a barley. I thought she was giving free barley for us. Haha ... :o

Penang / Nyonya set lunch RM7.90, so this is only valid from Mon - Fri only? Or every lunch day?

Yesterday nite, went to Weng Soon Jaya, ordered my bittergourd with siew yok but end up Sang Mee Bittergourd wif siew yok ... not bad!

On Sat nite, went to try out this Rest. Orkid Thai in Shah Alam which is on promotion, apparently, it did not turn out as what I've expected to be ...
Thai Food! Owner of the shop is chinese, most of the food cooked are chinese style and even thai food that we've ordered also came out differently. Amazingly dissappointed!

Their tom yam soup is sooo oily, no taste of tom yam & spices cept that the chili oil stuck in my throat. Kerabu chicken feet, has got fine bones there .. did not properly removed it. Kangkong belacan over cook! Green curry beef is the worst. It has brinjals in it and it doesn't taste or look like green curry beef.

I was quite surprise at first that, there are quite number of ppl having their dinner there and seems like the food is nice but but .. even the deserts I order, they failed!

Yesterday morning went to Ikano there to try this Kluang Station as advertise in Jusco Pearl mag ... to me, only few things are nice.

- Hainanesse Chicken Chop
- Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng (so so only)
- Coffee, Teh Ping & Cham Ping

Other than that, did order a toast bread which is also so so only ...and worst of all is their half boiled egg .. turns out to be lumpy and unappetizing at all. I can't believe such things also can be served like that.

Pricing wise .. is reasonable for other food. As for the eggs and toast bread .. is not worth it.

Oh yeah, don't ever order their Kluang Mee Siam .. its actually a normal economy mee hoon. That's all. My weekend, the most satisfying food is only the chicken chop.

Reporting back on this Tasty Pot...tried their lunch set, it is really good value for RM7.90 for 3 dishes+ 1 rice. Can choose from a few diff set lunch, all nyonya fares, some sets come with achat, bangkuang char, curry chicken, another set with some kinds of braised pork rib, fried egg, and taufu, in generous portions. We ordered 2 set lunch and the table was full with 6 different dishes. :D Service is good, food taste up to par, no complains lah. With drinks, bill came to about RM20+, worth a try. And even got 2 free bottles of mineral water as a parting gift. They are really good in doing promotions, ya? :)

Oh yea.. the hotel buffets in Jakarta are nice!

Each time I stayed at Shangri-la Jakarta I will save my appetite for their buffet breakfast & dinner. 1 thing to note is they serve 'real' bacons for breakfast, and at dinner we even get all kinds of pork including roasted pork at Chinese food counter in their massive buffet. Dinner is about RM80-90 only. Oh, next time i will ask the cute restaurant manager to see if they can include pork trotters in the buffet, heheh! :D

As far as I can tell, in Jakarta hotels, there's no pantang-larang for Muslims(or so I perceived) to eat in restaurants that served pork, anyone can comment about this culture there?

Argh...... stop talking about buffets please, or else I hv to keep my new, slim, jeans away, and dig out old larger sized jeans, and make a xth trip to the tailors to alter my dress pants! LOL :o :p

They say further up there, got a very famous chinese restaurant there and quite a lot of ppl go there for food during lunch time. Well, will give a try the next time I go there again.

The other "famous" frequented by tourists and locals..somewhere smack middle of town, near Popular Book store are ok ok only...nothing to shout about.

I went there to try out their $16 per kg crab. And they said they have Salted Crab .. tried it and didn't like it. Crabs are small altho cheap, salted egg in the crab are not good enuff. But had ordered other dishes as well like their assam fish, nam yu pork ribs, vege, tofu & complimentary soup.

Besides their crab sux ... other food is ok. Overall price is reasonable.

Oh yeah, they have steamboat as well .. those old style steamboat. This shop exist long time ago, I think over 10 yrs ... so I guess most of you would know bout this place.

The lunch menu is limited and the set lunches are good value at Rm7.90, nyonya style cooking, to me the taste is acceptable, not great, but to those who grow up eating homecooked nyonya food, of coz it's not as good as grandma's.

Breakfast is really rock bottom cheapx10. RM1.90 for a plate of fried meehoon or noodle + a cup of coffee/tea. Or half boiled egg+butter kaya toast+coffee/tea. Cheaper than the cheapest mamak stall. :D :D

This weekend, I went to Melaka and finally had the chance to try this famous Chicken Rice Ball and no, its from A'Famosa shop. Too commercialise already that one. Am talkin' bout the one at the corner near Jonker's Street. A lot of ppl there, basically have to share tables or stand and wait. But it's worth it. Not much of tha ball rice that I like but it's their chicken. Steam chicken , dunno how they marinated it but it's damn nice.

I have also tried their Satay Celup when it turns out to be a huge disappointment. Had at this Bandar Hilir, McQueck Satay Celup. Place is clean and kinda lot of ppl there but then service sux, sauce sux (watery), food ain't so fresh. The last time I had it and it was good was in Ujong Pasir. Due to time, it was gettin' late after a long long walk in Jonker's had to go for a quick dinner nearby.

Oh yeah, there is this chinese restaurant which is not bad somewhere near Mahkota Parade. Rest Pei Ling ... dunno how many of you heard of it. There is an offer for 10 pax normal course wif shark fin soup as well is only bout RM128++ and this is excluding their rice & others. Comes up to still less than RM160. Worth it!

Overall, all their food is good and for that price there, better than that Peranakan Restaurant which is opposite of them.

Hello...dinner or breakfast? Tot by 12am, it is the start of another day?

Anyway, Asia Cafe food seems improved. I recall I visit when it first open..the food is lousy. That day, when I pay a visit wif my wife... yummy yummy.... I like the Pork Rib Rice (a.k.a Pai Kut Fan). ;)

Today's lunch is one of the best lunch I had in so many weeks. Eat all you can in West Lake Rest. I like most esp their "koon tong kau" dumpling wif shark fin in it. It was good and lovely. Most of their dim sum are good. Prawn paste.

Oh, not forgettin' their smoke salmon sushi and soft shell crab! Simply delicious. Much better than Gengki or Sushi King. Pricing? Definitely a good deal. Somehow, their desert Honey Dew Sago are a bit too sweet.

This place really reminds me of Marco Polo Rest I used to try there. Same kinda style buffet. Of cos, Marco Polo price are much higher than West Lake. Ahem! Manage to get a VIP room where no one disturb, so I can really concentrate on the food. Tea is also good. Had this "loong qeng".

There are still plenty of other dishes which I didn't manage to try. It was so good I had most of the dishes double.

Now I really have to go gym to burn off. Feelin' fat already, which means the food and deals are good. Worth going! :) If you don't feel what I feel after eating this place, please don't go there and waste money again.

I tell u, i had one of the best value for money buffet in JOGOYA at Starhill on sunday. Din know their quality of food is so good. I had dinner at Gonbei a few times and its rather pricey, but the stuffs at Jogoya is very good as well. My Japanese clients taught that, to ascertain whether a japanese restaurant is good or not, one have to see how many selection of "white" fishes they have as sashimi. Seems like this place has abt 4? Fantastic service as well.

Also saw an ugly sight of typical greed. A mother and i suppose her son (abt 9 yrs old)had a platter abt 4 inches high of salmon sashimi and another platter of boiled prawns at their table. And everyone passing just looked on and laughed. First of all, it isnt good idea to spend rm 102 per pax to gobble down salmon sashimi and prawns, 2ndly, they din touch tat platter of salmon when they finished their dinner.

If I'm correct, the newly open Soo Kee outlets are runned & managed by the senior Soo Kee's son/s...hence, do expect drop in quality too.

Nothing beats the original/senior Soo Kee...in fact, for the one in Jln Imbi, if it's one of those unlucky days that the junior Soo Kee is the chef, do expect the inferior standard too.. ;)

Impromptu agenda after Oldtown, decided to go for joyride all the way to Kepong. After reading some foodblogs rave abt this new place, i decided to give it a try last evening. Restaurant "Gao Ren Guan" is located at the new shoplots area opposite of IOI Mall, just right opposite of Leong Ah Yong Tau Fong. The place was crowded & we had to wait for table. Ordered 4 of their signature dishes, stuffed fried tofu, stuffed bitter Gourd, braised pork belly with yam, steam salted kampung chicken plus a bowl of pig stomach pepper soup. The food was quite good, except the steamed chicken was abit too kampung-ish...meat was abit hard. :)

After makan at Gao Ren Guan we adjourned to Station One in Bandar Puteri Puchong for drinks & some music. Unfortunately, this place has no live band unlike the other branch in Subang. The settings & menu r identical with the Subang outlet. The only different is their drinks serve with much lesser ice than the Subang outlet. :)

Yesterday had went to Klang to attend a friend wedding dinner in KEC (Klang Excutive Club). The ballroom was big enough to store 45 tables, big proper stage and pretty nice setting there. Anyway, the Rest. serve us is under Toh Yuen. I would say overall their food is acceptable only thing is, shark's fin soup not thick enuff, prompret fish is big but the meat not tender, prawns not that fresh - so so only. Their glutinous rice has got the smell but taste not that much. I kinda like their fu chok with fish maw ... very tasty. :)

Today went to Pyramid, they have this new stall called Japanese Octopus ball ... basically its Tako! $3.50 for 3 pc. I ordered their octopus & prawn. Nice! Once you order only they cook for you immediately. They also have this cheese & sausage. So its only 3 choices you can pick.

Anyway, yesterday I went to West Lake to have their lunch buffet again. Fantastic. Had their jelly fish & escargot! All time fav and few other new dishes.

Today went for Subway in Summit as recommended by few others. Have never really tried Subway before and today is my first. Really quiet in Subway, as business wasn't really that busy. I tried their Classic no. 4, that has Turkey ham & turkey something & roast beef, added with mustard and some chilli sauce. It was yummy but I dare say that, it might not be as worth it to some of us, it's costly and not filling. Next time, I think I'll choose Burger King anytime than Subway!

Friday we went to Halia, a restaurant at the Sime Darby Convention Centre near Mont Kiara.

They are having a promotional Churrascuro buffet there for only RM20++

Churrascuro is the brazilian buffet, the waiters come to your table with different types of grilled meat/veggies on skewers and you select what you like.

Last night they gave lamb, beef, chicken sausage, bacon-wrapped chicken breast, fish, and chicken loaf.

You get salad for the starter, and ice cream for dessert.

Drinks are extra.

We also ordered durian cendol ala carte for dessert....very very large bowl, with a unique feature (sticky rice dumplings under the ice). Also, it was good because there was less aftertaste from the durian.

eat at the restaurant and you pay no parking charge.

best thing to do with subway is to get their coupons (e.g. buy 1 + drink get 1 free) and buy lots

and like I said before, load up on the veggies...my subs are always overloaded :p

But I do agree that it is overpriced here...in Canada a 6" tuna sub costs only CAD3.20...here it is RM9.80...almost exact to the exchange rate :(

Allurban, how is the food? I mean the taste, good/nice/delicious? How about the environment, suitable for young kids running around? Thought of having our family gathering there. When I call to enquire on the meat loaf they actually tell me is beef, if is chicken then is ok if not ended up having too much beef dishes and we don't really eat beef. Is the food suitable for kids as well, I mean not spicy ? You mean they actually come to serve you at your table and not from the buffet table? Thanks. By the way, is the durian cendol worth a try? :p

The taste of the food is good, and the environment is good too. I'm not so sure about "delicious" tho. The restaurant is actually not very big, about 10 tables. It is built over the parking ramp so it has a curved shape

(from above it would look like the rapidKL logo)

The food was a variety, and not too spicy. Only 2 dishes that had any beef (beef medallions and chicken breast wrapped in beef bacon).

They do come to the table with skewers of the meat, and ask you what you like....hahaha after a while you have to start saying no...but it is tempting when it is fresh and hot.

The durian cendol was different...and tasted good tho I dont like durian that much :p but it was more than enough for two.

Does anyone know of this? Do they have other branch besides in MV? IF not, I guess I have to make another trip there again just to try this. Gosh! People waiting there just to "ta pau" and just to eat in, queues are long.

C-Jade Express in MV is a branch of Crystal Jade in Lot10, but both r selling different concept of food. Crystal Jade is specialised in ramen, dumplings, siew long bao etc, the variaties r very similar to Dragon-I. C-Jade Express, on the other hand is more to Hong Kong style siew lap (roasted meat).

Food of both outlets is quite good, & abit on the pricey side.

Kokomo, dun expect to enjoy many big pieces of suckling pig when u go there, they'll give pathetically a few small pieces with ur noodles/rice. :D :D

Thanks KakiLang for the info. Mebbe I'll give a try and mebbe not so soon also.

Anyway, today just had lunch at Eden in Subang Parade. First time going there, environment everything very classy. Service is good.

Had their first round of dim sum, their tiger prawn dim sum, scallops and rest of it is pretty normal. Oh yeah, their 'siu long bao' ain't as good as Esquire Kitchen. Then I had their Cantonese style seafood combo yee mee! Nice and lotsa fish, squid, and prawns in it. Very feeling, so I guess its their starch in it. Also did tried their black pepper chicken chop and their ceasar salad. All also nice! :) All this less than RM100.

Actually, their varieties of food ain't that much. Limited! Is their service and setting that people are going there for.

Went to Feng Lai taiwanese restaurant @ Jalan Imbi for dinner... The food is really nice, especially the 'San Bei' chicken. But its bit pricey though. There were five of us, we ordered two big dishes, & three small dishes... total bill came-up to nearly RM200.

Menu: Baby back ribs (signature dish), Wild Boar Ribs & Roast Pork with Apple Sauce.

RibLees in Sri Hartamas was a real disappointment. The ribs were so dry & overcooked, I abandoned it half-way. The mash potato had so much pepper in it that we coughed every now & again. The traditional roast pork wasn't dry, but it was a bit tasteless... and the apple sauce tasted wierd. Probably straight out of a bottle.
The pigtailed fries were *so* crunchy, they were like muruku. I'm not sure they're supposed to *be* that way, but at least they were edible.
Best thing about our (over) hundred-dollar dinner was that half ear of corn that came with the babybacks. *sigh*

No, I didn't return the food & complain. I never return food. I've seen "When Chefs Attack". That's it lah. *So* not going back.

the riblees outlet in tmn megah is no better. i have though read glowing write ups on them in the papers. sometime i think the food critics are paid off by the owners.

Otherwise how you think those food critics get so much of benefits. If the food is really good, they don't even need to ask those food critics to come. Word of mouth is stronger than food critics.

Just spread the news in here. Everyone will know, most have tried it and all the comments will come in automatically.

Best indication yet that the food is good is for you to have a look at their crowd. If it's a big crowd most times, you know you've got a winner! Works for me all the time. :)

Day before yesterday, was suppose to go Klang and have BKT but ended up in Mun Siang Lun for lunch! Totally out, not nice and expensive. RM10 per dish, had 3 dishes there and tea. Total came about RM38+ but is not that matter. Those dishes are not as good. I think whenever in Klang during day time, either have chicken rice or BKT is the safest and most satisfying food to have.

Evening went to PJ Seapark, to have their tong sui, fried popiah, ansun chee cheong fun. DELICIOUSLY good! Until now, still thinking of it.

Just came back from PJ, had this wonderful tong sui stall and its my first time trying out 'put chai ko'. It's good! And this 'longan with suet kap'. That's the best for todays' weather. Wanna rain but no rain and its hot without sun.

Anyway, this tong sui stall is in Rest. Sorn! Back to back with O&S Rest. Other food that is nice there is their western food. Called Peter Chin Western & their Robert Char Kuey Teow. Fried kuey teow I don't know if its nice but from the smell of it, looks good.

Just had dinner at Dragon-i in Sunway. Yes, its not available in Sunway Pyramid! All you 'siu long pau' lovers can go there try it out. Although its my first time there, I tried it and I love it. Also ordered their spare ribs sweet and sour and had a plate of fried rice that has prawns, fish, chicken & ham. Wah! Simply lovely.

Not many ppl are there yet, so no need to wait in the long Q for it. Oh yes, didn't know their hot chinese tea are refillable. Good! Can sit there longer. Haha ... :D

Yeah, tried Dragon-I somewhere around 2 years back at Mid Valley main store. I've tried all the other chains but it still seems the Mid valley's store still has the edge and better than the others. Others are either too salty or blant.

So far, this is the first time am tryin' Dragon-i, therefore I won't know other chains whether is it better or less good. But I see 1U there, always packed with ppl. And the Qs' there are long and ppl are willing to wait for their seats.

Just came back from San Francisco Steak Hse. Now they are offering this set lunch there for only RM13.90 and different days different meals. I had their Roasted Slice Beef that comes with Soup of the day, Salad of the day and Dessert of the day. Can only choose 2 ouf of the 3 items.

Their Minestrone soup is nice, salad also and ice cream pretty standard'lah. I also ordered this Escargot & Nanchos (this is better than in TGIF). For 3 person, total bill came up to less than RM80.

And that place is packed after 12.30pm.

Yes, they do. I saw them putting up set lunch menu on their door. But unfortunately, this coming 31st Dec & 1st Jan 2007, there won't be any set lunch served. Only on normal days. Perhaps if you want to try it, you can go tomorrow.
