Like bitter gourd, fried... indian style.
There is also this nice bitter gourd soup and fried pork on the way to JB.
After you exit toll make a u turn at Saleng (before kulai) towards JB, passing the former toll (demolish) and immediately you will come to a pedestrian bridge where on your right is Maybank and famous roasted duck (nice also, try on your way back to KL), it is on the left. Second shop. You cannot miss the shop. Lunch time is pack even with locals, singaporean and lorries.

Alwin, there is one quite low-keyed restaurant here in Penang, small but doing good business, it is known as Kashmir.
It hangs photographs of its VIP customers including Omar Shariff, Sean Connery, Jane Seymour and Celine Dion (and hubby Rene de Angelis).. and also Jodie Foster and firends (Chow Yun Fatt & wife, Bai Ling, Deana Yusoff) during filimng of "Anna and The King" in 1998.
Simple and powerful testimonial.
Maybe when Bruce Willis is doing filming at Subang instead of Philadelphia, I might call on him to take a mugshot at my place if he can recall me serving him well while at Phillipe Chin restaurant but I am pretty sure I can count on State Governor Rendell and Phialadelphia Mayor John Street but they are not famous here. ;)Anyway, the premier restaurants in US which I had worked with really dont hang famed celebrities on thier premises.
[B]As for my restaurants,I get my customers pictures in my menu. Real paying customers giving thumbs up or smiles for good food regularly. Now all my customers are treated like VIP irrespective whether they are cerlebrities or not. Now that is simple and natural, for real! ;)

In fact, last nite was one of my satisfying moment when I served a family of four which was incidently after passively reading from usj.com. They might not be celebrities but they really enjoyed the food particularly the scallop. But hte highlight of it was the tour of educational value of healthy food and the way to enjoy it at pleasurable pace by sight and aroma instead of just taste. So much so they left a twenty dollar tip though my assistant said it was not necessaryat all.
By the way, I encouraged them to subscribe as a member to make this world a better place. ;)

Don't get wrong Zinglicious, some of these celebrities esp Sean Connery and Jane Seymour come back quite regularly to the restaurant over the years. They have more than 1 photo on the wall with the date of visit inscribed.

To get it right, if you happen to see Sean Connery in Penang, tell him to drop by at Subang for Fish Head Curry in yogurt which is neither stirred or shaken.
It is Oven Baked. Opps, I meant neither Fried or Simmered. ;)

I think you are talking about the meerebus off Jalan Ah Siang, next to new hong kong restaurant (about 100meters). Its in a building now. Not road side like it use to. Yeah facing singapore 3 incense stick! hehehe.
Behind is a car wash and behind... the tomb of Lim Ah Siang. My maternal grandpa use to have 4 houses in Jln ah siang.

Definitely will go back there for lunch. This place has been operating for 30 yrs already and now only I found out.
last week we went to Jyn Raku (formerly Rakuzen), had sashimi and sushi, i must say their quality is much better than the new Rakuzen.

Dim sum in Kg. Java, Malacca ... dont even know the name of the restaurant...just that it was next to a hardware shop.
lots of varieties of dim sum including some very interesting carrot & yam cake dishes.
Also one nice thing was a good strong oolong tea...really good to wake you up in the morning.
Wanted to go to Nyonya Makko in Malacca Raya in the evening but sadly it was just packed with families and there was a queue outside. So wifey and I ended up walking further but we didnt want to go to Dataran Pahlawan for food so we ended up walking around. Guess what, Station 1 Cafe has made it down there too!
This Station 1 was a bit more quiet than the others but the food was quite tasty and the drinks were refreshing after the walk.
After dinner we thought to go back to Nyonya Makko and have their cendol - but it was still packed. So we ended up walking over to Dataran Pahlawan for an evening walk, inside and outside, then walked back to the car.
All along the way we were looking at the construction & development & traffic & appearance of the streets & Karen told me more about her experience growing up.
We agreed that Malacca would be so nice with more trees & shade, better public transport, nicer pedestrian walkways and most importantly, fewer cars.
Cheers, m

Yesterday had lunch behind Ken Damansara, there is a new shop open called Roast and Toast. Owner of the shop chinese and the wife is Thai.
Tried their char siew rice, the sauce not bad but too little and the char siew is not like our normal char siew here, a bit hard. Anyhow, the place is very clean and the chicken rice all made by the owner wife.
So its' a thai style chicken rice. They also have Hakka noodles which they claimed is their specialty.

There is a block of office located right in front of the UMW Toyota Showroom along Jalan 19/1 and there is a Ravi's Banana Leaf restaurant inside there, surprisingly...
This place is sparkling clean and bright for a Banana Leaf Restaurant.
Food is fresh and they also fry the fish, the chciken, the pigeon and the fish roe on the spot.... we had lunch there with fresh coconuts too... very good experience!
One of the cleanest Banana Leaf outlet I have been, the lady boss is extremely friendly too and walks around to check on the service provided by her workers....

That place is called 3 TWO Square and my office is right there. We all tried Ravi's. Its no doubt clean and service is good. They even uses BMW X5 to carry goods. I think Datuk is there frequently and lots of S class and 7 series there as well. But as most of us felt, if you think Nirvana is expensive, you better dont go there. One small plate of chicken we order enough for 1 person costs RM 7. We ate there a few times and now we rather save our money for Tram Car Cafe around the corner (those days called cable car cafe from Section 14 PJ mall). Cheaper and good. Another place you could try there is Bangkok House for Thai food. Very nice tomyum. All staffs are from Thailand. There are also Papa rich, Hailam kopitiam, Old Town kopitiam, Starbucks, Happiness Seafood, Boston Cafe, Vetro Bar and Bagus La Mian Yong Tau Fu there but I personally find Bangkok House and Tram Car is the best. Never tried Happiness Seafood since its new but heard its not bad as well. Boston cafe is good for beers especially friday night but the food is not good enough. And beware, Boston is those Steven corner concept type that allows members to get members.

Yesterday travelled to Penang and along the way, stopped in Ipoh for Foh San Dim Sum. At 9am, still so pack and the crowd makes me feel like its' Sunday. Dim sum is good, environment is nice something different from the old buildings around.
Had meeting near City Bayview so had lunch in there. One word SUCKS! Then evening before leaving Penang went around to hunt for something good but stopped at this Sister's CKT and it bloody cost RM6.50 a plate now. So far I've eaten, it is not the best in town, just that the prawns given is bigger than others. Really not worth it.
Get out of Penang head straight back to Ipoh to hunt for Lou Wong Rest. apparently famous for their chicken rice / hor fun / beans sprout. At least this one is something more satisfying. Portion for 2 there can actually eat for 3-4 person if all are small eaters. Don't order their chicken feet. Definitely not their best dish there.

I tried the Hailam Kopitiam and I think its a bad copy. Try ordering the fish fillet and chips, you will 2 small pieces of fish fillet and a whole basket of chips.... so different from the picture on the menu. I have never gone back there again as I felt so cheated.
The waiters are poorly trained too but I gave them the benefit if the doubt as the place is still new.
I have hanging around this TWO SQUARE complex for a few weeks already as I am working on some business deals there with a few guys whose office is there.
Hey Jokee, can I contact you thru PM - need to see if I could find and buy an office lot there too with 2 parking lots?

Went 2 nights ago to Face to Face Pan Mee shop in SS15. Air-conditioned. The big bowl was RM6.00. The portion was large and ingredient was generous. I am quite satisfied with the quantity and quality. What I like about it is the availability of 3 types of chilli pastes. It is placed on the table so you can take all you want to your heart content. And they have many types of pan mee too so the choices are good.

I went to La Cocina at USj9 2nd floor with a bunch of working colleagues having bruch sponsored by my Boss, Mr Nicholas Das who lives in USj 4.
The food was simple, there were noodles, fried rice, curry puffs, rolls, egg sambal and bits of fried chicken all spanish cooking style. It was ok, but i had a headache back there from all the cigarette puffed up by the lads. They had a pool table and 3 dart boards. So my co-workers had a blast and so did i.
Left early from there coz i drove another colleague of mine home and he had too much booze if you know what i mean. I was driving so i had only 2 mugs of beer. Overall it was OK. I might wanna go to La Cocina again with my family to try their real deal menu although pricy, its spicy!!! :p

Price is RM7.00. I think it is reasonable. I usually do not like to eat dinner in Indian restaurants because a lot of the food has been sitting there since lunch. But this restaurant deep fried the fish and chicken the whole day (as it is be repleted) so I went back for dinner too.

what a filthy place ! afterall the dirtier the place the better the taste, better with rats running around so that it can confirm the food is delicious ! No offend pls.Its the same in Subang Jaya / USJ restaurants lah Jan... there are some forumers who even got the chic to frequent dirty restaurants in SJ/USJ and defend their actions saying its the same everywhere eventhough these restaurants have been sealed by MPSJ! They even walked into these restaurants while the "quarantine" is still in place i.e. while the yellow tape is still there sealing the restaurant. Thats the mentality of some... how can there be improvement if so-called residents of a supposedly educated community condone such dirty outlets? Who is to blame if widespread food poisoning and diarrhoe outbreak occur including death? Oh... MPSJ never do their work lah...
malaysian have been brainwashed to accept low standards.
so we continue to patronise dirty outlets bcs standard set by the authorities on cleanliness varies based on the $$ paid by the restaurant owner.

3. 2 plate of "char siew" & "siew yuk" (fantastic)

Just had dinner in Happy Days. Overall the concept of Happy Days, I like it much and the food on the menu are pretty much like TGIF but only thing is slightly cheaper. Service there, the people are friendly and good (fast). Although opened for only 8 days but they are pretty open to comment / feedbacks from client. Going table to table and check.
Food wise: there are still a lot of room for them to improve.
Ordered:
1. Texan beef steak (lack of greens & is a steak without sauce)
2. Pepperoni Delight Pizza (Chinois is better)
3. Appetizer Platters: comes with calamary, buffalo wings, fish fillet & stuffed potatoes. (I will not order this next time)
4. Mushroom cheese beef steak burger (this is good)
5. Ultimate Mudslide (its' good but the measure of drink is slightly below)
6. Ultimate Magarita (its' good but the measure of drink is slightly below)
7. Mushroom soup (good but portion is bad)
8. Garlic bread (this is good, comes in 4 thin slices)
Mainly the staff there now; some are students working part-time and some are foreigners & locals. Overall, they are very polite and friendly and well-mannered. You'll be suprise to see the place is quite pack actually, probably cos is still considered as newly open.

Today had lunch in The Curve in a place called 'Just Dessert'. From the menu this place looks pretty interesting as it has our local cuisine to Japanese, HK, Korean and all sorts.
Very hungry and straight went in to order:
1. Hainanese Wok Fried Chicken Rice > stated Chef recommend > verdict: my mom cook so much better than that. Just some oyster sauce chicken with ginger
2. Vegetarian Sang Mee Soup > just bean sprout & green vege & plain soup > really not worth every single cent to pay for this.
3. Combi of scallop & baby octopus & some green vege > this is the worst ever.
4. Egg Tart > came out 3 mini tiny egg tart > looks good but quality is not there.
5. Another octopus ball > can't even taste the octopus & bloody sauce is so sweet. There isn't any wasabi given to go with it.
Basically, one of my worst lunch in this week but what to do .. there isn't much good food in The Curve. :(
I'll never step into this place again and this meal cost me RM50 where I feel so so so so so so so expensive.
Luckily for dinner, went to Paramount area behind the market at the slope area where there is a fish shop and every evening there is this wantan noodle stall operates. Quickly, I ordered:
1. "char siew" wantan noodle
2. White steam chicken noodle
This place is even better than USJ 2 & Wong Song Kei wantan noodle. Except for their wantan. Not good. Other than that, service is good, fast and cheap. Owner is chinese but the staff all there are thais' operating it.
Attended a wedding dinner and ate through 10 courses of yummy Chinese foods and then there was a BBQ on the following nite + plenty of wines.

Saturday's dinner was held a restaurant called Fatty Chong in Sri Sentosa, Off Old Klang Rd, KL. It was quite cheap for 5 tables. They served 6 dishes. Foods were generally quite good for this Tai Chow shop. Servings were quite big and there were quite a lot of leftovers for tapau.
Sunday's dinner was held at Overseas Restaurant in Jaya One, opposite UTAR, Jln Universiti, PJ. Dinner is served fine dining style but chinese dishes. we've 6 tables. Foods were ok but quite pricey I heard. each table comes to abt RM900+. It's much better than the one at Subang Parade.

I was at Grand Dorsett for lunch and found out something very interesting for you guys! Emperor is celebrating their 12 anniversary and diners will enjoy a 40% for their ala carte menu for dinner until 10 January 2010. And for every 2 tables, they throw in further a bottle of free wine worth about RM150 !! But remember, Emperor is closed on Tuesdays.

I tried the noodles twice at Pg Passion but not to my liking. Maybe the rice and dishes fare better.
Those who like chi thor thong (pork stomach) in chicken soup can go to Zen restaurant, also in Bdr Puteri. It sells China style food (not sure which province). I normally do not like chi thor but this one is good when eaten with vermicelli....comfort food on a rainy evening. But beware... lots of pepper. It is at the same row as Maybank.

I tried the Curry Asam Fish ( Siakap ) which was fresh and good but not enough kick for me. The Kangkung belacan was awesome! The Pai Tie and Lobak was also ok. I havent tried their noodles yet so probably very soon.
I had the camomile tea and that was refreshing.
Penang food is always awesome but i credit Pg Passion for bringing it here for our locals. Going back to Penang to have the real thing is irreplaceable....

The table(square) for 4 here is very small, if you're ordering set meals, its gonna be bit messy. Get a bigger table if the no. of pax exceeds or if you're ordering plate after plate.

We tried your Pg Passion today, but sadly wasnt so passionate. The curry chicken was good...looks right, smell right and taste right. The kankong belacan was only so so, though the vege itself was pretty young and good. Just that the belacan taste wasnt that "oomph". Jiu Hoo cha average, pie tee..below average cos the filling had no kick. The otak2 wasnt too bad but one packet was a tad too dry whilst the other a tad too wet. The chicken Inchikebin was good but the sauce was not up to our real Penang std. No mustard and no shallots! Cannot lah!!
But the big disappointment was......the plain water! Gosh...charged us RM1 a glass!! Unfortunately, we had a 2nd glass refill, so 7 glasses of water cost RM7 !! No way we are goin back there with water at that price.
Had fry mee hon with XO sauce + chinese tea.

Friday evening went to a nice little Chinese cafe is SS18, at the far end of the commercial area. The name is Yit Xin (iirc) and it is next to the dance studio.
We ordered prawn mee, tofu in spicy creamy sauce, kailan, and ricewine chicken with cha, the food was really tasty and only RM60 for the dishes which were very big portions.
You have to give this restaurant a try...a good menu and good variety & flavours...not so cheap but worth the money.
In Malacca for the weekend, we went to the new Lo Fa Chai chinese products shop at the end of Jonker street near the river...had a pre-mixed cendol that tasted ok but the noodles were sad, dark green colour and too thin.
Still nothing better than Nyonya Makko cendol.
Also had the classic mochi from the stall near the stage at the other end of Jonker street. Wifey has been taking mochi from this uncle for 20 years at least...I think she's gonna end up crying the last time we go to Jonker street before we leave M'sia...

This place (Yit Xin Xiang) is a personal banned place for me and my colleagues.
We went there for lunch, ordered multiple items from their express menu, which consisted of Claypot chicken rice, "Lai Yau" chicken/prawn, Ginger fish fillet, etc. Cost about RM7 per set (which isn't a set. read on).
Portion was nothing to shout about and when we called for bill, we asked for dutch style and the boss immediately mumbled and walked off.
Came back and generally said, those ordered from the express menu total was RM8.50. Most of us ordered "Suit char" and we complained that RM1.50 was too expensive for Suit char. He then explained Suit char was 50sen only. RM1 was for the rice. We then queried that shouldn't the rice be in the 'set' and he told us it was separate, with no indication on the menu. What a rip off!! I ordered the claypot chicken rice and was also quoted the same price. I then sarcastically highlighted that my rice has to be in the set, right?, and only then he minus RM1 off my total. Totally dishonest owner! 14 thumbs down from me and my colleagues!

Twist and turn the confinement food into a meal where both of you can share instead of confinding to mothers. Basically confinement food means nutritious food which can be beneficial for the mother and baby. Since it is good, why confide it? The hubby should get the goodness of sharing good food portion.
When my wife was in the so called confinement, I was the one who cook it! SO instead of confining to the traditional chinese confinement food, I twisted and turn it into food for myself, too! Had too cos I was in USA, and couldnt afford a RM500 sebulan maid! And eat out for real good nutritous food would have cost me a hydrogen bomb.
The confinement food was the gourmet class of USA scallop, Cornish chicken, Atlantic Salmon, Greens Sauteed in Ginger infused EVOO, scallops and tuna porridge.
Result - the husband in confinement enjoy it - except the kitchen cleaning part! Nosw who says confirment food is :p ??????

2. Deep fried chicken skin - always love this
3. Glass noodle soup - can't complaint when there is nothing much there to eat after 12am.
4. Grilled fish - Rm12 half the price lesser than in Batu Ferringhi for that same size.
5. Sotong bakar - taste good but very thin and I think in HatYai the smell of it is stronger.

Last weekend finally I went to Rawang Lan Je Talapia Fish Restaurant, the long talk about place there. Truly it is good. So many people were there waiting and luckily we managed to get a table and not wait too long.
Their fish comes in S/M/L and even if we order L is less than 1kg. So we ordered 2 large talapia. They have choice of non-spicy and spicy.
Others:
1. Kangkung belacan
2. Sotong fried with vege
3. Chicken kung po
4. Taufu with mince chicken
Altho, the talapia has their own style of just steam only, its' either spicy or non-spicy but if you can take spicy then that's the better choice.
This place they don't serve pork. For meat, its' only chicken.
Worth going there again. Next time will just order the fish without any other side dishes.

Lucky you Pat.
Today lunch, went to Plus 8 which is in Centrepoint area, a newly opened Restaurant, Cafe & Pub. Its' lunch time and that place initially only saw a couple there having lunch. Ngam ngam I step in there the couple was leaving. So there were only 3 of us looking curious with the place altho this place came out on Star newspaper before promoting it.
Place is big, staff inexperience and mostly foreigners, we're the only customer then slowly came another 2-3 group. They have impressive menu, price was quite reasonable and for now its' TAX FREE!!!
Since we were the only customers there at the beginning, I thought service would be good, food would come faster but the service is not on par cos of their inexperience staff, food came considerably long.
We ordered:
1. Roast duck rice
2. Wantan mee with roast duck & vege
3. Cheese pasta
The first dish which is the roast duck rice, took them more than 15 mins to serve me, really no other customers was there ordering except us. Chopping the bloody duck & serving me a plate of rice takes that long. Ok, finally it came and they gave me the drumstick of the duck which I think its' only about 2-3 inches that "BIG".
Then another 10 mins came the wantan noodle, totally soggy but at least the duck meat was bigger than my portion.
Lastly the cheese pasta came in after another 15 - 20 mins and its served in a lasagnia plate which is so freaking small portion.
They do have chinese cuisine, western, & some other local delights and its' pork free'lah. Other than that , they really have to buckle up with their services and food served.
I saw fried rice which later another customer ordered, so much bigger portion than what I have.

For dinner i had the chicken calzone, the first one Id tried in 5 years! It was really good too - smooth and saucy.
The only problem is that they took a long time to cook and bring out all the dishes....but it is to be expected when you have 20 people coming in at once.

Unless you guys are going to MCD, it is OK to have your fries or burgers within minutes order or some Chinese dinner joints where you can see food are partially cooked already. Observe carefully when you visit even the open view Tai Chow.
People forgotten that herbs and spices need time to cook as to infuse the taste with the meat. Moreover, freashly done food would be able to retain most of the nutrients need to provide and protect our body immune system.
Also, enjoy the freshly prepared food of the aroma which is part of tasty sensation forgotten by urban people in the hurry. WHy just buy flowers for its petals? Take time to sniff it and enjoy the fragance.
BTW, what's the hurry when you are there to celebrate your friend party? ;) :D ;)

Also, enjoy the freshly prepared food of the aroma which is part of tasty sensation forgotten by urban people in the hurry. WHy just buy flowers for its petals? Take time to sniff it and enjoy the fragance.
BTW, what's the hurry when you are there to celebrate your friend party? ;) :D ;)No hurry...but we waited for 1 hour for dinner.
So they are still good huh? Service wise, past also slow. Who is running the place now. Wife or hubby?Claudio is still running the place. It is near the Noodle Station now, on the 1st floor.
Cheers, m

Tried a newly opened Taiwan restaurant inside Pyramid over the new wing section which is next to Starbucks.
There are quite a number of people there so thought of checking it out. We ordered their set meal & some ala-carte as well:
1. Steam cod fish set (not bad > under chef recommendation)
2. Oyster & Pig intestine mee suah (Taiwan Shih-Lin is so so much better)
3. Fried beef kueh teow (this is good > by chef recommendation)
4. Fried rice "chai-po" (totally bad)
5. Kailan wif oyster sauce (vege over cooked)
6. Budhha Jump over The Wall soup (not bad > personally I just don't like it)
7. Fried tofu (this is one of the best)
If you intend to try; do order those under chef recommendation to be on the save side rather than end up with disappointment.

Went to Damansara Kim there to try this long recommended by many SS20 Fish Head Noodle for lunch. Ordered their normal fish head noodle but they also have haruan fish noodle. Fish that they provide are fresh & good but the portion is normal just that they use a very big bowl to contain it.
They forgot my orders few times despite my 1st time there. Impression to towards them jatuh. However I would go there and try again cos the place is clean and really there are quite a number of people coming in and going off. The owner himself busy managing the customers to their seats and large number of staff there working.
Anyway, a normal bowl of fish head noodle there cost RM7.50 which is on the high side. And the haruan fish noodle is RM9.50

Yesterday went to Ah Sien Dim Sum in USJ 9, it was packed maybe cos of its' fame and everyone like wanted to try how good it is.
To me, 1st impression is now they are hygiene concious, every new customer that sits down, they have a set of chopstick, plate, saucer, bowl sterilize and wrapped in a plastic for you to open. Don't know how long they can go on like this, the cost of it gonna kill.
Ordered:
1. Char siew pau (it came, not tasty and not even warm enough)
2. Chinese tea (also not warm, asked to give a warm one .. the lady just smile and then forget about it)
3. HK Chee cheong fun (prawn is fresh, sambal is at the side there with generous portion but the sauce on the chee cheong fun isn't enough. I would say I'm having a dry HK chee cheong fun)
4. Siew mai Suzhou & normal (this is tasty)
The price there isn't so cheap but the quality of food ... really need to improve. Goodness , how can we have a pau that is not warm and not tasty. Ingredient inside is so miserable.
Hong Kee dim sum still maintain the quality.

err.. I also went to Ah Sien Dim Sum 9.30am yesterday, full house, sat next to the food outlet area, saw what came out steaming hot only I order, got all my food steaming hot, CS pau hot but so so taste only, HK CCF sauce ok, prawn is fresh n bigger than other places, h gau & S mai tasty, chinese tea warm as ordered, loh mai kai also tasty, all in all good but costly. Give them another chance, will try again after few months see if they can maintain quality or not (they just open 2 weeks only).
my 2 cents

Yeah, I saw them taking out the lo mai kai and it looks tempting but by then I was already full.
chsum, I was there around the same time too but sat downstairs at the corner which is at the side view with the main road. Probably I'll go there again after another 2 weeks.
I saw upstairs there very crowded but air-conditioned yet feel very stuffy. I prefer downstairs, fresh air in the morning to enjoy my dim sum.

Weekend most balik kampong for Qing Ming or head to Chinese restaurant for dinner with relatives.
Had lunch in Seremban after Qing Ming in this restaurant called 'Tong Yat'(just after exiting S'ban toll on the left side). Used to be good but now slacked.
Kangkong, taufu with nutmegs(i think...), green leafy vege(dunno the name), fried spare ribs and 'Explosive Siew Yoke'. Used to be good but now...

Dewan Orang Ramai RRIM, sg buloh.
Great location. Gated & Guarded:p Fulla greenery. Wide expense of manicured lawn and football fields. Quiant, square, 'fortified' single storey bungalows with shrubs, flowers and fruit trees...:)
Well kept immaculate condition Indian temple...and a very well ventilated Dewan Orang Ramai just in front :D
Best vegetarian food ever! BUT not by choice as the Q for the meat buffet line was like 100head long! So, we took the shorterQ and ended up with a huge plate of very delicious Indian curried vegetarian dinner.
Heck! I dunno what i ate but the chunky stuff looked and tasted like chicken! :D The food is great and the company fulla laughs BUT the grand show was the stage event. It was Fulla of family love, pride, smiles and filial piety... :) , multicoloured spot & disco lights and feet tapping, fast paced indian music and songs...I feel like wanna dance the bollywood number! :p
Oh, its a private function. A biker's wedding...and he had a convoy of motorcycles escorting the wedding car to the venue :D Way2GO!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Was in Melaka last weekend for makan makan. The usuals in Jonkers:
1. Cendol > near the bridge, now they have tables & chairs to sit. More proper already. Still as good.
2. Fried popiah > still the old uncle in this bicycle. Nice. :)
3. Dim Sum > head further down, a large stall there. Variety of dim sum. Pick any 7 of it for RM 3
4. Assam Laksa > this is one of the popular one there.
5. Lala & cockerels bakar
6. Sushi set > only RM 10
Wanted to have the local ice cream there but it wasn't ready yet.
This was only during tea-time :p
For dinner:
Head down to Melaka Raya new area and found this place called Cottage Spices. Known for its' Nyonya food there. About 11 pax were there and the place was quiet and there wasn't any body around except us. Time was already 7.30pm
We still try out that place, and we had:
1. Sambal w/ lady fingers (good)
2. Kangkong sambal belacan (a bit over cook)
3. Ayam Ponteh (lovely)
4. Sambal petai w/ prawns (Prawns are bigger than petai which I can't see any there but its' good)
5. Assam Fish (good)
And there are few other dishes which I can't remember.
For 11 pax to eat there and its' only RM160++ I'm going there again next round when I go Melaka again.
By 8pm, the place was packed full house. When we left, there are still people going in for dinner.

Had dinner with a buddy in Taman Petaling yesterday nite. Its' a thai restaurant there. It has been more than 10 years I step into Taman Petaling. There is this restaurant called Khuntai. Operate by the thais, first time there as brought by my friend whom has been raving about their umbra juice and the food also not bad.
Ordered:
1. Sambal petai w/ chicken (not bad)
2. Prawn fritters (even the head of the prawn also they dip into batter and deep fry, not bad but not crispy)
3. Deep fried kangkong
4. Seafood tom yam soup (ordered small one but that also can feed like another 2-3pax)
5. 1 jug of umbra juice
Wasn't really that pack, kinda cosy sitting outside and airy too. Ample parking space there.
For 2 pax there cost RM66. Should have more people there then it would be just nice.

Went to Medan Batu Caves last Saturday ever since I heard about the much recommended place called Pan Heong. Feeling a bit of adventure that day, decided to take a drive down there and try.
It's really packed during lunch time and its' open from 8.30am - 3pm only. Looking around at every table what they ordered so I did my own ordering as well since there is so much that I wanted to try but there is a limit to my stomach on that day. Sigh! So I ordered:
1. Frog leg porridge with century egg (superb)
2. Kao Yuk Bee Hoon (good but kinda small for portion of 2)
3. Normal Wat Tan Hor (very nice)
4. Sweet Potato leaves vege w/ belacan (very nice)
5. Steam Siakap according to Pan Heong own style (nice but will try others)
6. Muar style Otak2 (expensive for 1 piece)
All portion of dishes here are made for 2 pax.
We have 5 pax and ordered only normal tea.
Damage: Rm90.20
Definitely going baCK there again to try others.

Yesterday went to Empire Gallery & tried this new place called Belanga (a Kelantanese food chain). Saw quite a crowd there enjoying it inside and the environment was cozy so went in and tried also.
Ordered their:
1. Nasi Dagang w/ beef rendang
2. Nasi Kerabu w/ ayam percik
3. Curry Mee
4. Nasi Goreng Belacan w/ ayam goreng
5. Avocado juice
6. Serai w/ lime
7. Kopi susu
8. Teh O Ice
Only 5 pax of food & drinks. Freaked me out the bill came up to Rm95++
Comment:
1. Service wasn't that pleasant.
2. They forgot 1 of my ordered which had me waited more than half hour.
3. All the waiters tried to be attentive but failed.
4. Manager there couldn't even notice that 1 of my order is missing despide my table is very near the counter.
5. Curry mee was lousy after a long wait.
6. They still dare to charge service tax of 10% with such service.

Had my dinner at this newly opened for few months Restaurant Tien Tien located in ss14 & to my shock a simple meal I ate but I paid for a price which I can have so much a better food elsewhere.
I ordered:
1. Steam talapia (black) with ginger - Rm37
2. Mantis prawn with dry chilli (kong po) - Rm18
3. Mui Choy Kau Yuk - Rm16
4. 2 plate of veges (kangkong belacan & Siew Pak Choy) - Rm20
5. 6 bowl of rice - Rm7.20 (1.20 each)
6. 1 pot of tea - Rm6.00
Goodness, the rice is not a very good grade type of rice they served. The talapia fish is not even a very big fish. Overall is an ok food which is really just a simple meal but the total is Rm104.20
This is really shocking. The initial also had difficulty with the lady taking my order cos she confuses people with the dishes that she mentioned. She is also confused with the dishes that I requested. Sigh! Really a bad dinner nite for me today. :(
