I'm bringing a visitor from the UK out for lunch, thought of having nasi lemak. Where got nice ones?(preferably air-con)

Nasi lemak with air-cond? Hahaha .. do you think where is applicable for it? Well, I can suggest to you to bring them to Uncle Lim in Subang Parade / Sunway Pyramid / Ikea but real way to enjoy nasi lemak is with a cup of hot coffee in a coffee shop.

Personally, if they really want to try our local food - you can bring them to SS14, Wong Soon Kee @ 3pm start their fried chicken, veges & mutton curry + sambal on rice. Woohoo ... syiokkk ... pls take note that this is not nasi lemak but just a normal rice.

I would bring him to local spots to enjoy since back in UK those fellas all can drink cheaper beer than us. UNless, your client would be someone who is not adventerous to try and see and experience local places & food.

He's based in China and his wife is a Chinese. Souled-Out has either east, west or Indian food, various varieties you can find. I brought him to a restaurant in Serdang for local Chinese food and was thinking since Souled-Out has plenty of choices, should be ok. Recommended Coconut-cooked rice aka Nasi Lemak but he ordered Indian food. Indian food definitely dances well on the British taste-buds.

Ok, just came back from S'gpore again and this time I tried their famous Boon Tong Kee chicken rice. I see many people there had to Q to wait for tables. As it is a normal thing all around in Singapore so just wait after 2 mins went in - served me at the end of the shop which is actually the back way out. 3 pax so is really a bloody small table.

Ordered:

1. White steam chicken - not bad!
2. Rice - 'yau fan' this is really 'yau' = oily but the aroma of the rice is there & really steamy hot.
3. Kangkong belacan - not over cooked which is good but they use a lot of chili & oil which makes it real spicy with the lots of oil there.
4. Fried taugeh - not appetizing at all looking at it & it's over cooked.
5. Pot of tea - the tea is really good, after meal just drink it down can feel it washes those oily food down.

Initially I wanted to try the famous Hainanese chicken rice which is in Novena just directly opposite the church there but not my day :( it was close for renovation.

Oh yeah, the chili sauce they use, everyone tells me that their chili is good but when I tasted it; it's really not bad I can taste its spicy but at the same time is also sweet. I would say this is not my preferred kind of chili.

Saturday brunch I went to Crystal Jade in ToaPayoh - I ordered:

1. Sliced fish porridge (the porridge is smooth but not enough of taste)
2. La Mian soup w/ fried pork ribs (the pork ribs is good but the noodles are tasteless)
3. HK Kai Lan w/ garlic (the garlic should be cut not chop garlic but the kai lan vege stem are one of the huge ones which I've ever eaten)
4. Egg tart (very nice and the sweetnes is there but might feel is a lil too sweet)
5. Siew Mai (it's normal but the size of it is bigger)
6. Char Siew Pau (tasty)

All those dim sum; upon order only they start steaming it therefore time taken is slightly longer. I see other tables, most of them they order garoupa fish steam (very fresh as I see it and they will prepare the fish only upon order - take out from the aquarium).

My Saturday lunch is an enjoyable meal overall. :)

I went to Kuriya which is another branch of Ichiban Boshi a slightly more exclusive outlet in Great World City. They have 2 branch in that complex - one is fine dining and another is the normal sushi outlet but more exclusive than others cos they have a small mini mart that sells salmon, unagi & etc incld their sauce.

It was quite a long wait there as the Q is about 20m long. When our turn came and got a table, very quickly we open the menu and ordered:

1. Grilled Tiger Prawns (real huge) w/ miso paste
2. Grilled Squid on a leafs (is a type of leafs which can't be burn out)
3. Cha Soba & Unagi rice set
4. Chicken shabu (also have mushroom, veges & shark fin)
5. Soft shell crab (1 plate has 3 pcs & its meaty) worth it
6. 1 plate of hana maki (wrap salmon w/ mayonese)
7. 1 plate of (salmon roe, top w/ mayonese & chili oil & top wif salmon) can't find it in M'sia & is something new - nice!

Lots of M'sians here is under the impression that food in S'pore 'sucks' but I think it's more of an acquired taste. The preps are slightly different e.g. wanton mee they put in ketchup(some even chilli sauce). I find it different but acceptable. Char Koay Teow also put in sweetened sauce but overall it's not exaggeratedly lousy as perceived.

Went to Naili's in Taipan on Saturday evening. Food is horrible. Hubby ordered the burrito. No flavor. I ordered the shepherd's pie. First time in my life eating a soggy shepherd's pie. The whole dish is soggy including the mash potato on the top. The wild mushroom soup does not have enough cream. Halfway through dinner, hubby saw a huge rat jumped up onto a chair and went through a hole into the drinks counter. We decided to leave then.

Sunday night had dinner at Fig & Olive in Pyramid. Our first time experience there was quite pleasant. But this time round, hubby ordered spinach pasta. The flavor does not blend, the sauce is sour and does not go well with the pasta and the muchrooms. I ordered olio penne. It was tasteless. Had to add salt on top.

No luck with food last weekend.

Seriously, I was one of them that thinks that S'gpore food is not up to standard for me. Most of their food made there, really different from what we usually eats here. Taste different & look different. Mainly most of their food are sweet. Where as here in M'sia we can taste all kind of taste in the food from bitter to sweet to sour to spicy to something in our food.

Naili's in Taipan is definitely overrated...no plan to ever go back there, especially with Logenhaus and Strawberry Fields being so nearby. I did go to Pancake House at Sunway...this is a brand from the Philippines. Generally the food is good and the portions are big...I dont get much craving for "American" style breakfasts but I found it to be a nice place for the costs

I still prefer Paddington House of Pancakes for taste and variety tho...get that into Sunway or somewhere in SJ and I'll be there regularly.

Cheers, m

One man's meat is another man's poison. You can actually tell them to give you a separate bowl of curry. As for Nasi Kandar, they 'kuah-campur' hence giving it the soggy feel. If we go in a group, then they'll mix the curries in a bowl.

Yesterday nite went to Puchong to try this Grill King. When I was there, I would say that place was pretty quiet but they did put up some nice musics around. Place is clean & neat. Can see that this place is a newly open and since it's new and the price is still affordable; decided to give it a try.

They're mainly serving western food but they also have local food served as well. Overall the food is pretty good.

I ordered:

1. Fried rice beef
2. Beef soup noodle
3. 'Ngau yuk hor' - kongfu beef kueh teow
4. Grilled chicken chop
5. Cape cod fish
6. Grilled breast meat chicken w/ sauce
7. Mushroom soup
8. Garlic bread

None of the above I find the food not nice. All also tasty and it comes with set (mushroom soup & a drink) with add of RM1 each.

They also have this Yakitori (Japanese satay) which we can choose either beef, chicken or lamb. They also serve set lunch during the day. If those work around there then probably you can try it. ;)

Had lunch in Fig Tree, Damansara Heights area in Jalan Dungun. Ambience of the place is nice and relaxing inside as for outside is just a small place for smokers to be around there.

I had their Nyonya fried rice that comes with a fried drumstick (not bad) & its' crispy, sambal prawns, keropok udang & a small sauce plate of sambal to go with it. I would say overall the food is not bad but didn't really like their sambal prawns cos it ain't that fresh, not big and sambal not spicy & tasty enuff for me. Other dishes there is fish & chips (I see the portion which is quite big and it smells good). :) If you order fried kueh teow, it comes in a very long plate with some salad veges & a fairly portion enough for ladies that want to watch their figures but it tastes good as well. Personally I find it a bit too wet.

Earlier just now went and try this Canton-i in 1Utama and actually this restaurant is also owned by the same owner of Dragon-i cos 1 of the plate they use to serve us there is a mark on it that says Dragon-i. Food is good but the price is slightly higher than Dragon-i.

I had:

1. Seafood fried rice (seafood are fresh, it has salted egg inside as well - taste different from Dragon-i)
2. 'Ngau Lam' noodle soup (tasty and good)
3. 'Pei tan sau yuk' porridge (porridge is really smooth & full of scallops)
4. Shrimp wanton (5 pcs) inside the prawns are big & juicy
5. Fried carrot cake w/ XO sauce (outside is dry but once bite it, is juicy and nice inside w/ 'ha mai' tiny shrimps)

If order chinese tea its' RM2 but refillable and the tea very 'pekat' taste and plain water also they charge as written in the menu is RM1 also refillable.

Environment of the place is nice & we get to see the nice landscape done outside 1Utama as cozy & garden feel.

During lunch time by 12pm the place is packed suddenly cos of the nearby office around but nite time the business is also just as good.

Fig & Olive - new wing of Sunway Pyramid

Not sure if it's Meditteranean or Middle Eastern-influences 'western' cuisines, including steaks and lots of sandwiches choices. I enjoyed the steak as it was well-marinated with delicious spices & cooked just well done as I liked them.
The chicken sandwich was also good plus it was also supposed to be 'healthy' ie low in salt, fat.
What I had:
Zafira Set (soup, beef steak, guava juice + sliced fruits) for RM29.90++
Picante Chicken Kebab Rm9.90

Direct Access + CIMB cc get 10% discount too.

Go try it if you want some alternative tasting steaks from the usual.
(I have eaten here twice & have no regrets at all).

The food is tasty, worth the money I spent. Especially I like the dessert, banana fritters with icecream, long time haven't had this dessert, really yummy. The staff there are very friendly. Next time when I go BF I want to try the pancakes with icecream and american breakfast there, seems delicious too.

Last Saturday went to a house warming party, caterer is by Group Base.

They have this fried rice which many will think is the normal 'Yong Chow Fried Rice' but this included raisins in it which is not to my preferred taste bud but many of them like their fried rice there - to me, I just don't like raisins that much. Top the rice with some curry squid which is nice as the curry is thick.

They also have:

1. Assam Laksa
2. Char Kueh Teow
3. Rojak
4. DIY sotong kangkung & taufu bakar
5. Ais kacang
6. Lovely 'nam yu' fried chicken
7. Roast lamb & beef

All the above food is halal but what I would take most is the char kueh teow & the 'nam yu' fried chicken and their roast lamb & beef The minute the chicken is out - everyone is out there to grab it. So is the roast lamb. The lamb is superbly tender (mebbe I got the best part of the lamb) :D

The meat is so tender although their mint sauce is not that thick, more of the olive oil there and they also have mushroom sauce to go with the roast beef. The fried kueh teow is fried on the spot.

The assam laksa is really 'assam' and spicy enough to give that kick. DIY sotong kangkong, you can add as much sotong or kangkong in it as how you want to eat it. Ain't that good? Outside you just can request for it to be this way, if you do just pay more'lor.

Taufu bakar is also good, crispy enough to bite it and yet it won't break all over the place when you eat it. :)

2. Fried sotong - crispy & tasty
3. Fried fish (the ones which look like ikan bilis but this is the bigger species) It's so crispy that the head & the bone also can be eaten.

5. Curry leaves fried crab (this is still good and the egg in it still awesome) *yum* :p

I went there once and it was quite good. Prices was reasonable too.

BTW, some Singaporean coffeeshops serve crabs with humongous roes inside. Of course it costs S$35 per kilo but one kilo of that crab (usually one crab) can satisfy 4 persons as it is very meaty. Can we find such crabs here?

Normally around 1kg can serve 4 person already but then knowing M'sians, we'll have 2kg of crabs of each 1kg in different style. Another place I can recommend for crabs is in 'Tak Fuk' - there's one in Kepong (original shop) another branch is in Bandar Puteri Puchong. You also have to request from them that you want the crab with roes cos most times they don't give. Mebbe that is also due to the style we want to eat the crab.

Like if you eat salted egg crab then the crab normally don't have roes in it cos it would be dry & taste is different.

Cheap and nice. If from Kajang, head toward Semenyih till the traffic lights that, turn left(same direction to the ostrich farm) then it's on the left hand side with the number 53(or is it 54). Their specialty is 'sang har noodles', Guiness Stout Pork Ribs', calamari and lots more. Price is reasonable. Not sure if it's true but they also serve dog meat(have to book in advance...).

Yes it it, straight after the left turn, less than 500m you should be able to see it. The best is be there before 12 cos parking and restaurant will be pack. If you go straight after the traffic light(instead of turning left), there's a right turn into the school area and you can see an attap Malay stall selling Nasi Ayam and 'see-hum'. Very nice!

I'm wondering now, in Penang during night is there any other place for food besides Gurney Drive? The open air hawkers there ain't that good. Anyone can give me any other options around?  Say if I'm in the center of town where can I go grab good food?

it's packed during meal time, since they have limited seats plus the current hype

price is compatible to McD but slightly more expensive, but still cheaper than Carl's Jr
the most expensive item on the menu is the 3/4 pounder burger large combo, RM20 for it.
Not really recommend Large combo unless you're really really hungry or you are used to mat salleh's serving size. :D I already having problem finishing the medium combo :p

Last 2 days went to tried this Food Laundry in section 17 PJ. Recommended by my friend to bring me there. Mainly they serve western food but they also have local food which is either nasi lemak or fried rice. I tried their fried rice & cordon blue chicken & had a desert crepe which reminds me of the indonesian kuih lapis. Overall, the food is good.

Yesterday had Taiwan Shi-Lin oyster mee suah & XXL cripsy chicken, I notice that these 2 that is high in demand has gone up the price from Rm5.50 to RM6! Anyway, yesterday I find that the standard of their food has drop slightly already. Wasn't that tasty anymore and the sauce that has flour is thicker.

Then I tried Kebab King which is next to them; ordered lamb but no more so second option is the beef. The beef is already pre-sliced and is not like last time I first tried in pasar malam which they actually slice on the spot according to order. Way the beef is being sliced isn't that nice it's in small pieces. The wrap of the whole kebab is very small & thin plus the price difference. Even in Summit last time there is this kebab shop next to KFC is nicer than the one in 1Utama.

Yesterday I had lunch at Friendster cafe in Damansara Perdana. Setting and environment quite nice & comfy but the parking ... worst than being in Taipan. Anyway, ordered their set lunch which is their Friendster fried rice with fried chicken top w/ mayo & mushroom in it. I say this is not bad and with additional of RM2, you get ice lemon tea.

Worth trying it but as for the one in Sunway Pyramid, am not sure how good it is there but this one in Damansara Perdana is the original place. When it comes to asking them for the bill, they are pretty slow in getting it.

Last weekend I went to Puchong in Puteri area there which is around Giant & Citibank there. Found this new place called Dapur Nyonya. Went in there & found out that they serve penang delicacies and they also had this big banner in front there saying that they have crabs at RM18 per kg.

Look at the menu, there are so many things I wanted to order but finally I just ordered:

1. Petai fried rice
2. Oh-chien (fried oyster omelette)
3. Fried tong fun (glass noodle)
4. Fried mee suah
5. Lotus root w/ assorted vegetables
6. Spicy chili nyonya crab
7. Pai tee
8. Watermelon juice
9. Ice chinese tea
10. Fried chicken wing w/ otak-otak

Concept of the place is quite cozy and surprisingly dinner time is packed and upstairs also they have tables but all of it are meant for 8-10pax. You'll feel the setting there are a bit nyonya style and modern as well.

Overall, the food is good cos its' tasty and you can feel the spice there also. Remember to ask for their sambal belacan if you're having your fried noodle / fried rice goes well with it. :) I simply just love the way they did their fried chicken wing as I've never really tried it before with combination of otak-otak there.

I just don't quite prefer to have crab there cos their spicy chili crab is nice but after eating, I feel the sauce they made there are quite sticky and crabs are smaller than elsewhere I've eaten.

This shop is located just next to Old Town Kopitiam which is facing Giant in Puchong. The damage is less than RM90. So is quite worth it to go there. At the moment now, they have not start charging service charge / 5% tax.

gf was feeling sick so I suggested that we have steamboat...so of course we went to Bandar Puteri, Puchong...it's like the steamboat capital of the Klang Valley.

Sice the Japanese shabu shabu place (Mizi) that we usually go to was full, we decided to walk around.

Saw another steamboat place called "Good Times' and went there instead.

They use the charcoal fire for cooking...and the smell and the heat really made the food taste a lot better.

We ate a standard set for 2 pax, and finished everything, even the cabbage leaves. The food was tasty but not too spicy. I didnt even use any extra sauces because things tasted very good.

Total bill was about RM30.

Cheers, m

went to SS2 today for dinner..
Noticed the Shall We Meet restaurant was no longer there and was replaced by Greenwood Cafe..
Ordered their Thai fried rice with pineapple and crispy prawn, Chinese fried rice with salted fish, and BBQ Chicken wings..
Ambience was ok but kinda hot..
Thai fried rice arrived after 20mins and with the news that my Chinese fried rice was 'fInished' so I ordered a club sandwich which took another 20mins to reach me.. Then my gf took a bite at the Crispy Prawn and spit it out after a few chews because they had shells in the not-crispy-at-all prawns.. So I called the waitress and she was quite surprised to see shells and took it back to show the cook.. While I was almost finishing my club sandwich, the waiter came back with two prawns and they seemed bigger.. But still there were shells.. So we decided to just put it aside..
Then came the BBQ Chicken Wings.. So raw they actually bleed when I tried to cut it.. Again I made a complaint and so the waiter took it back to the kitchen.. I've almost lost it but remained calm.. After waiting for another 15mins, I had them bungkus..
So after calling for the bill, I requested to talk to the owner/manager who seems to be ready and had been eagerly awaiting for me to ask for her..
I politely enquired about why the prawns were battered and fried without shelling? She answer proudly that it was their unique signature way of preparing prawns.. (imagine tempura prawns but with shells) I suggested that if they wanna make the shells edible, she'll need to deep fry them longer.. And still she was still being very defensive and not even apologetic.. I then complained about the chicken wings being uncooked.. She says its normal.. So I paid the bill for not wanting to listen to any more rubbish from someone with such defensive behaviours.

Four thumbs down for Greenwood Cafe!
Four thumbs down for Greenwood Cafe for lousy food and bad customer service.. Highly not recommended!!

Ok..I HAD to try the newly opened Indian restaurant at USJ 9/5M.
Cleanliness: 9/10 Restaurant is BRAND NEW!
Food quality and taste : 8.5/10 Err.. usual fare..but I'm happy seeing many Indian customers there..it must be exciting!. No Indian customers there..something damn wrong!..thats my take!.
Service : 8.5/10 (Better than sour and unfriendly faced waiters at Sri Paandi)
Price: Rather on the high side: RM5/- for vegetarian and Chicken Varuval is RM4/- End up roughly RM10+ a head for BL meal. Hmmmm.. What's RM10 these days?.

Many a time I miss so much that now closed down Sri Paandi offshoot restaurant at Sect 11PJ.. Those were really fun times for me and the best kick ass BL meal for RM6 all in!!..Mana mahu cari macam tu lagi ah??? SIGH! SIGH! :(

I know there's others but Penang Rd Line Clear NK has been given a lot of publicity and hype. I ate there many years ago when they were just a common a side wall roadside NK vendor...so was Sri Paandi when they started off at the back room of a Brickfields shoplot.

My sis told me that all the best stalls in few of the famous lane has been located there so tourist all can try Penang best food in town.

Yesterday went to Pyramid and tried this new italian restaurant Michelangelo's over the new wing section. Walk-in there about 8+pm and no one is around; basically is like I booked the whole place. Ok, so sitted outside with some nice environment there looking at the menu and made my order.

1. Fried calamari (good)
2. Mushroom soup (not from can, good)
3. Some recommended pasta with breast meat (not bad; not my preferred too and the breast meat is very dry)
4. Braised lamb shank (is slightly smaller but is tasty and good)
5. Spagetti & 1/3 chicken (whole thigh) - made the order but it never came. And there is no other customers there to make orders, kitchen is not busy and yet the waiter can forget that 1 dish.

So we call for them and ask for that dish, very quickly the kitchen prepared it and serve us. Nice smell and it looks good but the moment when we tried to tear the chicken, we knew is not well cooked. Ate quite a bit and request them to cancel the whole damn dish. Waited so long, expected something good but it came out not well done. Truly dissappointed with that dish and waiters all go hiding each time we called them.

That explains why there ain't any customers when we were there. Service is far behind as compared to Italiannies.

I finally had the chance to go try out this USJ 9, Nirwana Maju banana leaf which is so famous in Bangsar. The place really renovated well, nice, spacious and airy but in terms of service and quality of food is far away from the original Bangsar.

I took:

1. Mutton masala
2. Fried chicken
3. Fried calamari

And the banana leaf rice they give:

1. Rasum
2. Pickled
3. Dry chili
4. Veges
5. Selection of 3 different curry

Basically, what I took as the regular in Bangsar; all their style of making it is different and quality is not there. Somehow, that was the first time I didn't enjoy my banana leaf rice in Nirwana. I still prefer to go back to Bangsar & I guess that this branch here is a franchise one.

Had dinner in Madam Kuan Bangsar last nite. Still the best is the curry chicken, petai prawn. Nasi Lemak and Nasi Boujouri also highly recommended. For restaurant standard I say they're pretty good, definite place to bring your 'white' friends to savour the taste of local cuisine.

wat's the price like? they kedekut with the vege or not? their papadum is the round type or square type?

Seems acceptable to me on the portion. No harm asking for a bit more.

I peeked into the kitchen, they fry their own papadams. I know some restaurants buy poppadams by the bags from some vendor..(one example is my favourite NK shop at PJ..bags of it stored away at staircase area). Those mass produced ppd's don't taste the same as my own handpicked choice and I fry them personally. Guess what?.. NO POPPADAMS at MYDIN last night!.. shocking!. Read the fineprint on the paper packing and you can see where its produced. Don't take for granted you see Indian language print..its all from India?..certainly NOT true!.
There's local produced poppadams and imported ones from India. My past experience gives me the impression that local ones ARE LACKING and NOT as tasty as from INDIA..period!.
Local one kurang aroma and somewhat bland by comparison. Missing magic spices??? ya, ya!.. taruh lebih kas kas!.. kemudian bedengung!
So!..I'm not always wrong when choosing imported items most of the time. I'm continuing to believe why local made products are rarely on par with the original. Trying to be cheap is one matter, but still cannot improve the taste is not acceptable. Having said that..great taste recipes is often a trade secret.

Purely my own view and experience. I'm no authority on Indian cuisine..but I luv it anytime!.

Tried Nirvana yesterday. Service lousy but food ok. I think they used Basmati rice, that's why the price is higer. Had fried chicken cube only and they charged me RM10. I recalled 12 or 13 years ago the shop was selling buffet, then closed. Then a mamak, closed then a Nasi Kandar and now Nirvana. Think the 'feng shui' there not feasible for food business.

I was at Burmah Road's Belissa Building to get a hearing aid but it was closed for lunch so wifey and I decided to eat at a simple coffeeshop just next to the Belissa building.

I went for the "economy rice - chap fun" and with only 1 sunny-side-up egg, steamed minced pork in egg, two lady's fingers from their fish curry dish and cabbage, on a 1/3 plate of rice, I kena katok RM5.20 by the old lady.

I can't remember eating such expensive 'economy rice' in Penang before. Was quite shocked and angry but wifey said the shops in Pulau Tikus area all katok people unless you are a regular.

Yesterday I tried this Hakka Cuisine in Sunway Pyramid.

Ambience: Not bad, peaceful (until there some kids crying & running around)
Service: It was busy but they still attend to you.
View: You get the view of the new area facing Sunway Lagoon theme park.

Food: Overall, truly hakka dishes and served well.

Ordered:
1. Crispy pork belly (not much fat & oil) so it's a bit dry.
2. Choy Sum (a simple vege dish with garlic)
3. Mui Choy w/ Kau Yok (not too oily, basically they taken up up all the oil and serve you and the meat just melt in your mouth)
4. Pork belly wif mok yu (this is has slightly more fat & the sauce is nice)
5. Fried yam - a simple fried yam which is crispy outside n it melts in your mouth.

The tea was good and even after many rounds of refill still the taste n texture of the tea is still there.

We were in Genting to attend a wedding and had a yummy lunch at the Mushroom Farm. Yup, this is the place to have delicious, value-for-money food when one is in Genting. Look out for "Taman Cendawan" on the signage and you will be led to this place where one can find supermarket, dog kennel, mushroom farm, the "tai chow" restaurant, vegetable farm.

The specialty here is its "Tong Po" meat (braised belly pork in dark soya sauce). Also must try is the fresh vegie e.g. Tian Qi (no. 7), lily buds and Monkey Head Mushroom & Yi Wat (fish paste) soup. For the 1st time we ordered the Butter Fei Chow Yu (literal translation "African Fish") - similar to Butter Prawn.

For an order of:
1. Butter Fei Chow Yu
2. Tong Po Braised Pork
3. French bean shoot stir-fry with garlic
4. Potato leaves stir fry with sambal belacan
5. Tian Qi vegie stir-fry with garlic
6. Monkey Head Mushroom soup

We only pay RM180!!! That was RM18/pax as there was 10 of us on our table!

That was so much cheaper than the RM13 I paid for a bowl of tasteless Prawn Mee that I had at First World's Food Court outlet...called ??? Mee. Sorry, can't remember the name of the outlet as the Prawn Mee was not worth remembering at all! And I felt a huge pinch of my pocket too!! And suffered heartache after eating it!!! It was really lousy and expensive.

This weekend, my family dine out twice.

1) Went to Tien Kee Restaurant in SS18 (same row as Mamak Bistro/Tropicana) for Teochew and Hakka dishes. Tien Kee serves very good soup. We had:
- Sichuan preserved vegie with minced pork soup
- Salted vegie with fish & tofu soup
- Yam rice
- Hakka abacus
- Hakka pork trotters braised with dried chilli
The soup tasted delicious. Serving was small, especially the trotters.
And price wise is rather steep.

But if you want some clear, yummy soup and porridge or noodle, this is the place to go.

2) Our fave Korean restaurant in Amcorp Mall's 3rd Floor. Same row as McD.
This place serves the best kimchi chigae in town! We have tried many kimchi chigae in Desa Sri Hartamas & USJ Taipan restaurants. But non can beat this outlet's. We always request for a big bowl of this spicy, hot soup (without the set). At the same price (RM15.90), one can order for a set meal that comes with rice and other 3 side dishes, a soup and fruit. We usually order a bowl of vegetable kimchi chigae (mushrooms, vegie, kimchi, soft, yummy white tofu).

The bulgogi chicken set or spicy squid set were yum, yum!!! I have not change my order for a long while. It's alway my regular whenever I am there.

The price is value for money, food heavenly, staffs very proactive and friendly. I dropped my spoon and before I called the waiter for a spoon, he was already standing next to me with a fresh spoon and serviette!!! This is what I call exceeding customer's expectation. In order to enjoy your meal, go there early as the place tend to be crowded during meal hours and that may cause you to wait a little longer for food to be served. This will always be my fave Korean restaurant! :)

had some japanese fast food at d bon odori festival in d panasonic sports stadium on sat.... cant say d food was anythin to shout about but it was interestin seein so many ppl (most of them not japanese tho!!) gathered there to watch n join in d bon odori cultural dance.... lol....

then a celebration meal at sushi tomo in ss2 on sun....

we went ala carte.... had edamame (green beans), agedashi tofu, california temaki (handrolls), softshell crab sushi, salmon teriyaki, unagi, cawan mushi, garlic fried rice, miso soup.... japanese green tea n japanese beer....

rather nice compared to a lotta other japanese restaurants that i've tried....
value-for-money.... n a lotta japanese dine there oso....

i would say their QC is good.... everythin is just right.... n d food is freshly prepared....

noticed they r a bit understaffed tho, so even tho d kitchen is fast, ie food doesn't take too long to prepare, but there r oni 2 waitresses so u may need to wait a while if u need anythin (like refill of green tea) when there r a lotta customers....

2. Fish cake (very nice)

Just returned from a delicious dinner at SS2's Greenwood Cafe (next to Eu Yang Sang, i.e. opposite Caesar's Palace). It was highly recommended by a friend. We ordered a few dishes and shared among us.

- Lamb Shank - very delicious, for one who doesn't take lamb. I am surprised that grilled lamb tastes so good. The lamb shank was huge!
- Spaghetti Oglio Oglio Seafood - like the al dente spaghetti with chilli padi added and many seafood topping.
- Beef pocket - slices of beef with portobello mushroom stuffing, with black pepper sauce and tangy red cabbage coleslaw. I remember this dish well coz it was my choice!
- MCM Chicken served with mashed potatoes
- Caesar salad
- A small serving of Spaghetti Oglio Oglio Seafood (a real good bargain as this cost us only RM0.99 with an order above RM50!)
- Brownie with ice cream and chocolate topping - a dessert shared between us as we were all too full.
--------------------
The drinks came in interesting names. Among the nice ones we tried were: Sexy Blue, Mojito Lime, Sexy Peach. The Mojito Lime is extremely refreshing. All non-alcoholic. It was sprite, lime and lotsa mint. One can actually create this drink at home!
--------------------

We all agreed that the serving was just nice. Not too huge for our palate. The price for all the above was only RM169. The food was really fresh and delicious. We also enjoyed the good service rendered by the staffs and owner.

The owner even prepared a birthday cake and played a birthday song as we were having a birthday celebration dinner there and my friend had informed the owner in advance that we are having a birthday celebration.

Last Saturday finally went to Jogoya to try their buffet. The place is truly huge and wide variety of food display there. I would say too wide. Anyhow, the place is still pack like everyone has mentioned. This place is not exactly all Japanese buffet but they also have other asian variety.

First thing I hunt for is their coconut. It was cleared when I went in and had to wait like almost an hour for them to replenish and quickly get 1 to try. Really good and refreshing. Real sweet & cooling!

There are also:

- Fresh oyster
- Baked oyster
- Baked stuff crab
- Escargo
- Sushi & sashimi
- Tempura
- Teppanyaki
- Abalones' japanese & chinese style
- Dim sum
- Grilled seafood
- Desserts (Haagen-Daz)
- Liquours

Its' really filling but those that can't fit in that much there is a technic to enjoy buffet too. Eat all the expensive stuff. Hehehe .. :p

Earlier I was in KL Sentral and thought of just having a lunch there. Found this cafe called Penetton. Name is nice, from the menu looks good.

So I decided to try their set lunch which comes with a soup + main course + dessert + drinks.

1. Mushroom soup - looks like they added lotsa starch to thicken it and grinned pepper with herbs. (bad)
2. Black pepper chicken chop - sauce is very diluted, lotsa black pepper (bad)
3. My friend ordered Mushroom chicken chop - the sauce looks like is taken from the mushroom soup to place on top of the chicken and add more herb & spices. (bad)
4. Dessert - chocolate ice cream but seems like is taken out from a big tub and place it into the small cup. (ok, so so)

There won't be any next time for me in this cafe again! Anyhow, the crowd is there for lunch.

If you are in PJ Section 8 area, there is a new office complex called 8 Avenue where I work. There is a restaurant, Pan Cafe (next to Old Town Kopitiam) and it serves yummy Asian + Western food.

It serves the yummiest English breakfast; sausages, scrambled eggs, hash browns & bacon. You can also have side dishes of baked beans, pancakes etc.

Prices are very reasonable. RM6.80 for the breakfast set.

Lunch set: RM 9.90. Soup, selection of local or Western main meal + dessert + drink

Nice environment + wifi + good service.

Had dinner at Rest. Tak Fook at Desa Aman Puri, Kepong.
I think their crabs are the cheapest around, but their other foods are rather expensive. Had 2 types of crabs (sweet/sour crabs and cheese baked crabs), fried fishcake taufoo, fried rice and tea, bill came to RM82/- for 5 of us. Crabs are about RM 18 - 20 per kg. RM20/ for fried rice, and the fish cake was RM16/-. Place rather crowded in the evening, but service is quite fast. Normally food will come within 15 mins of placing order.

Yes it is. They now have a double shop lot and quite a good menu. Section 8 is near the Police station as Han said.

Let's say, PJ Hilton is on your left, turn right at the first traffic lights thats in front of KFC. Drive straight, you will pass CIMB on your left, PJ De Inn on your left, then you will come to a junction.

There are Malay gerais in front of you, if you turn left you go towards the Police HQ, turn right instead. You will see a huge yellow building on your right which says 8 Avenue. Turn right, you will see Old Town Kopitiam, turn right again. Pan Cafe is right next to it.

If you come by after 5.30pm on a working day..let me know..can meet up if you like. :-)

Last Monday, I "tar-paued" a pack of char-siew/kai rice at The Singapore Chicken Rice stall in USJ14 (across the road from De Happyland). It was a miserably small portion to start off with. They charged me RM4.50. :(

Went to Damansara Uptown for some dinner and I told my GF, let's not decide what to eat, We'll let our parking luck decide. So wherever there's a parking slot, we'll eat at the first restaurant we see...
Drove around and finally parked near a Satay Haji Samuri Branch.
Its been ages since I had Satay Kajang, so went in ordered 10 Chicken (60sen/each), 10 Beef(60sen/each) and 5 Rusa (RM1.30)

Satay took less than 5 minutes to arrive, rather fast for satay..
All I can say is, don't bother having satay here.. first of all, its cold, tasteless, and meat is tough even for the chicken. Chewing on the beef and rusa was like chewing a piece of silicone wiper.. If i can't chew it, I wouldn't want my stomach to try hard to digest it...

but now it is called "Uno" and has moved to the outside, Jalan Perpaduan (iirc) near the KFC and HSBC and Maxis...

The decor of the restaurant is more of an Italian style and it is warmer and nicer but also more modern.

Pizza was great as usual but the pasta wasnt as good as I like...and the portion was a little small...but it was very filling.

we had:

tapas (potato stew)
spaghetti bolognaise
spaghetti aglio olio
herb bread
tropicana pizza

Total bill was RM88 for 3 adults and 1 kid. I think that, price wise, you can find better items at other Italian restaurants but it is a good local usj flavour.

Yesterday I was around in D'msara Perdana area and was thinking might as well have lunch there since I was so lucky to get a parking in that area with the tremendous jam. I went into this kinda cozy and not so cozy place called Reach Cafe & Dining. There were only 2 waiters to serve only 2 tables and yet it was so slow in taking orders. Not to mentioned the food also came in slow.

Saw the menu there got Thai SET lunch. Kinda interesting and attractive caused it stated there it include 1 ice lemon tea, 1 tomyam seafood & 1 desert. So we called the waiter to get our orders.

Sky juice came and then our main meal came. While eating half way, only I realised that - 1 ice lemon tea, 1 tomyam seafood and 1 dessert didn't arrive. Called the waiter to check for us, there and then only they tell us that actually the SET lunch don't have all those include inside and of cos lastly only they tell us that the price is actually different.

In their menu they have already cross out a lot of things but they didn't cross out the set lunch that include the drink, the soup and the dessert.

I ordered belacan fried rice but the fried rice don't have belacan, it looks like a normal fried rice and it taste like a normal fried rice. Only thing is, my mom cooks better than them.

Big dissappointment, bad service, wrong info delivered to customer and no, I'm not going back there again.

I feel it should be law that every restaurant should have a suggestion box for customer comments. Whatever the result maybe, it'll surely open the eyes of the proprieter and perhaps contribute to improving their quality. No restaurant is faultless, and only a concerned proprieter should be alert to its daily operations. Am sorry for those who are not bothered or don't take kindly to constructive comments, they deserve to go bust if they're responsible for letting the quality slide to the worst. Thats all I'll say for now.
