I also just knew bout it few days back. They never really did a big promo around to everyone to notice it. So be it whether you work IN Subang or STAY in Subang also you won't know bout it unless someone mentioned bout it.

GOOD Luck and hope you guys get to try it!

I've come to terms where my favourite Sri Paandi restaurant (the 2nd one and in conflict with the original corner lot shop next door in PJ Sect 11) has closed its doors forever since Deepavali.
To my utter regret, there's goes one excellent banana leaf food place which I'm always delighted to patronize. Good food don't come easy these days.

Sorry folks..I don't fancy the original Sri Paandi...tried there once not too long ago (since I was already there).. and it just didn't have the magic and better service like its shortlived competitor.

Personally speaking, if the food is absolutely yummy, I don't mind the service being a tad (only a tad) below satisfactory.

Yes my friend!.. IMHO, Its likely a few notches down in direct comparison with the one next door, especially the Chicken Varuval..Ori S.Paandi is not sufficiently chilly hot and "rempah tak cukup tumis". Its the same unsatisfactory blend at both Taipan and Sect 11PJ branches. The service at Taipan sux most with sour, unfriendly faces and extremely sloppy service.
South Indian cuisine is perhaps among my top 2 favourites with donkey years patronizing many places have given me sufficient experience to tell which is good or not.
Having said all that, food taste is subjective and vary among everyone, but nevertheless I insist on originality as supreme priority.

bslee, have you tried the indian food in court 10?

Any specific directions?. I'll give it a go soon.
I found a good rojak/pasembor vendor at inner roadside USJ6 opposite the Metro Bus depo. A tad sweetish but acceptable. The taste is fairly close to the original type found in KL during the 60-70's. Difficult to find similar taste around Klang Valley.
Shhhhhh!..mustn't be too loud on the location, I'm afraid council enforcers reading this turn villian and send him packing..then I got no more good rojak..

Any specific directions?. I'll give it a go soon. It's inside Court 10, USJ 15 and is next to the swimming pool. Once you're there, ask the guards where the Indian restaurant is. I'm sure they'll be only too happy to point you in the right direction. Remember, go during lunch, not dinner. Try their dry curry chicken & mutton. I like!

I found a good rojak/pasembor vendor at inner roadside USJ6 opposite the Metro Bus depo.Is it as good as the one outside Taman Tun? It's by the main road...if you're coming from KL and headed towards 1 Utama...Tmn Tun is on the right, they're on the left.

the rojak/pasembor at SS15 (opposite SHELL) is good. You can go there and give it a try, but sometime it is long queue.

As for the rojak/pasembor, I find it very good..RM3.50/plate..tad expensive for roadside but what to do..market price perhaps?.

I've not eaten the SS15 one for ages..perhaps a bit lazy to go there since I'm at USJ most of the time, nevertheless anywhere within USJ, I'd be happy to pop in..God willing.

This website too STINGY, where I can't post post digi pictures for benefit of everyone otherwise I'd easily take a pic next time when I eat there.

If you are really into Korean, try the Korean BBQ restaurant in Taipan. (opposite Herbs and Foods, next to the 'kopitiam'). They are located on the highest floor. Food is good, service is commendable and the price is a little pricey but worth it. If you go during weekends, be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes for a table. My recommendation would be to go for the ox tongue and the marinated beef.

This is a non-halal restaurant.

Bon appetit.

Just had dinner at Dragon-i in Sunway. Yes, its not available in Sunway Pyramid! All you 'siu long pau' lovers can go there try it out. Although its my first time there, I tried it and I love it. Also ordered their spare ribs sweet and sour and had a plate of fried rice that has prawns, fish, chicken & ham. Wah! Simply lovely.

Not many ppl are there yet, so no need to wait in the long Q for it. Oh yes, didn't know their hot chinese tea are refillable. Good! Can sit there longer. Haha ... :D

I went to Dragon-i in The Curve last Friday. It's really full house during lunch hour. The siu long pau is nice (the price is nice too :D ) and ordered their special noodle with wuxi boneless fried chicken. Food is not bad. Frankly speaking if not being recommended by forumer here, I don't think I will dine in there. This is just to experience & have a try ;)

More recommendation coming ahead for you all. Just try and experience it and at least you guys won't feel akward when others are talking bout it. They won't term you as 'Jinjang Joe/Jane'.

Just came back from Kuantan, all I can say is, hard to find Chicken Rice stall in Kuantan. Food not that good also! Sigh, I really miss home here.

Yesterday had Pulau Ketam Steamboat in SS15. As they promote bout it in the newspaper so went and tried it. But it was crowded the time I go there, had to wait for like 15 mins to get a place to seat another 15 -20 mins for them to take order, 20 mins for the food to arrive.

- Service ain't good!
- Food ain't fantastic!
- Prawns are really fresh!
- Kam Heong La La very watery!

I think I make my own steamboat taste better than them.

Last Sat went to Kuala Selangor for dinner. We had seafood at Sungai Yu Restaurant which is famous for it's grilled fish. The place was crowded at dinner time...we ordered grilled stingray, sotong, kam heong lala, hot & spicy claypot fish head etc... Food was good, price is cheaper than those bigger seafood restaurants nearby. Will definitely go bk there again next time.

Just came back from D'msara Intan. There is this Pub & Restaurant called Big Fish. For lunch they having this new promotion buffet starting from 12pm - 2.30pm. 8-10 dishes. Only for lunch. And it's only RM10. Place is nice and cozy .. environment. Smokers, you'll definitely like this place.

But the buffet is mainly indian dishes. Saw their menu, not bad. But today I only had their fried rice there. Will definitely go back there to try their lunch buffet. :) Anyone interested can go there check it out. ;)

Hi Kitkat, yes, there is a stall selling what you wanted but its only in the morning. You can get it from the market there. The main entrance of the market there is one uncle always there to make "yau char kwai". ;) Smells good too. So do follow the smell and you can find it.

Gf & I decided to give it a try, we ordered assam laksa & nasi lemak ayam. To our surprise, the taste of the assam laksa was so identical to that of Jusco's at Mid Valley, & the nasi lemak was not so much different from Jusco's except the sambal. Even the presentation was so identical...it's just like a copycat, or could it be Cold Storage "benchmarked" the strategy of Jusco Mid Valley?? Or, they might hv hired the same chef from Jusco??

Been there a couple of times before. Usually would go for Nasi Bojari which they would include the spices rice, rendang beef, chicken(NICE) and some vege if i'm not mistaken. Cost around 16.90 or 19.90 for the rice. No matter what you order there, don't order the fish "BAK CHONG", it will cost you like RM 130 something.

Quantity of the food is good, value for money but quality, just slack a bit cos its not as tasty as the one in Taipan. This shop is a corner shop. If you know where is Sri Melur ss19, the shop is just right down the other corner.

Normally where do you park? I parked outside Ceaser Palace the other day. Only there for 30 mins, when leaving an Indian guy pop up and asked RM4 for parking. No signs stating it's a private car park.

kitkat, normally you can park around Segi College there, cars there go in and out, and its easier to park there. If you park at Ceaser Palace there they have ppl going around collecting money from you. Not advisible to park at those area.

Rest. Sri Bandar, this fella call David, he makes damn good fruit juice. Just go there and tell him you want something special, cos you having sore throat, heaty, cough, for skin and etc ... he can make it out. Colours of drink which you hardly seen around in Subang or anywhere. They have very nice grilled chicken wings, fried rice and ikan panggang served.

Opposite stalls they have damn good claypot chicken rice. ITs even better than in Subang. Please do note, most of their food are better than in Subang. Not any cheaper but better.

Wanted to have BKT so much, went around few times there can't find any BKT. And when I finally found it, its always close or finished already. So yesterday by 6.30pm rushed to the BKT shop and try their BKT. It seems is the best around and there is only 2 shops in Kuala Terengganu town. ITs really good.

I was at Korean Stone BBQ at Ampang Waterfront yesterday. Instead of the normal grill, they provide a flat stone bowl for us to do the grilling. And the steamboat is separate. They have many, many varieties. Both food and drinks. They also have many types of soups. You can keep on changing the soups. We tried the tom yam and the bak kut teh soups. Yummy.... :) Oh, and since CNY is near, they also had 'Yee sang' which I enjoyed very much.

Hi guys, Where is this Tak Fuk in kepong and the restaurant in Sg buloh that you raved about? Wanted to try something new last weekend but did not know where to go. Ended up at PJ seafood (next to Tropicana tunnel) - nice environment but food so-so only. Any nice sea food to recommend along the old Subang airport road? Lots of eateries but not sure which ones to try.

...... Any nice sea food to recommend along the old Subang airport road? Lots of eateries but not sure which ones to try.

erm .. i haven try out the seafood reataurant there ... but i got 1 that i wish to share ...

located at teluk gong... the name is 'coconut flower' seafood restaurant ... they have a few dishes that really worth trying .... i like the tom yam prawn which they use pandan coconut to serve, the prawn is very fresh n juicy, soup is not very spicy ... just nice ... if u dont like tom yam ...than can try the 'mak phin har' which means prawn cook with oat ... or 'nai yao har' butter prawn , for crab, they have this famouse sweet and sour crab - 'lat zi hai' eat with small 'man tao' (馒头)。。。crispy at outside but soft in inside , if u like spicy u can try this 'kam hiong hai' dry n spicy crab dishes cooked with balacan, dried shrimp .... they have oso this butter crab 'nai yao hai' , each dishes for 3-4 person as above mention cost between RM25-35 ... for fish ... they have variety of fish type that can be steam in many ways or deep fried ... price range can go from very low to very high ..eg the other day we were having this steam fish of 'dao dai chong' (big n fat white ikan bawal) ... cost us about RM42 ... other dishes like 'lai liu har' or some said 'har gu' ... 'lala' , 'chok tan' (siput categories) n etc... they have this salty chicken (chicken that marinated with salt and steam b4 serve) similar to the 'yam kuk kai' 。。。can try oso the 'lala fried bee hoon' quite nice! now CNY season ... can 'low sang' there (捞生,七彩鱼生) 。。。there are a lot of other dishes that i haven try yet ... but 1 thing for sure is the seafood there are very fresh .... price oso reasonable .... ah .. almost forgot ... if u can take 'todi' may be can try out this drink, contained alcohol that made from coconut.

to go there
i only know how to go there from usj ... just turn into Kesas High way from Summit USJ's exit .... heading towards Klang ... need to pay for 2.20 tol fee ... the journey took about 15-20 minutes until u see the sign board with 'teluk gong' on the left lane of high way ... than u turn left ... drive for few minutes .. immediate after a bridge u will see the 'coconut flower' seafood reastaurant's sign board than turn left again .... go further till u see restaurant at your left ... instead of the first reastaurant along the road u look for the second 1 ....

woth trying! :D

This Tak Fuk is right inside Sri Damansara. Facing opposite Berry's cake house. Its rather hard to explain the detailed direction as am not so good with it. Once you know the place, is pretty simple to get there.

For me, I'm not gonna over-indulge but..say only la. My mum has promised me 'mooi choy kau yoke' :p plus all my other favourites. Habis plus plus.

Another CNY ritual is to complain that the programmes on astro are so boring. No change ever! hehe..One thing's for sure, however, is that everyone will still eat too much. :D

Really? Just passed by there this afternoon. All this while also thought it would cost a bomb.hahaha ironic as Hanabi means fireworks and the some of the prices would definitely blow up your wallet...like RM10 for a stick of white tuna

However, the white tuna melted in my mouth, it was so good that if I wasnt full I would have asked for another stick....and the set meal is affordable, only RM26-35

we ordered:

1 set meal chicken teriyaki (RM26)
1 set meal salmon teriyaki (RM30)
1 agedashi tofu (RM10~)
1 stick sh-itake mushroom (RM4)
1 stick white tuna (RM10)
1 ginger ale (RM5~)

total............................................. .................................................. .....

RM98 including tax and service.

Ironically, we were going to have a buffet at Saisaki (not 100% sure of the name but it is at Wisma UOA/OUA across from the KL Convention Centre) which would have cost RM60 per pax...but they were fully booked :p

I feel truly lucky that the first place was full. Id definitely go back to Hanabi just for the tuna.

Cheers, m

Yesterday ate at Paris there already. Ordered kangkung belacan, pork throttle 'hong siu', buttered prawns, pak so kung fish steam, taufu wif mince pork and another green vege. Not forgetting 'yee sang'. It was packed like sardine downstairs and even at those parking areas.

Today lunch had authentic thai food in sg buloh which is near the hospital sg buloh. I think not many people have heard of this place yet but the food is nice and darn expensive. We had 2 tables and ordered:-

1. Tom yam seafood
2. Sweet & sour siakap
3. Kerabu mango (damn good)
4. Petai wif prawns
5. Mushrooms wif prawns
6. Pandan chicken (mince chicken & their special marinate) good!!!
7. Longan water (very crunchy longan) nice!!!
8. Desert (self-service, can take as much n mix around as you want but all in one serving) RM3.00 per bowl

Overall the food is good and environment of the place is really authentic style. Served but real siamese ... (lady staff all very fair and pretty) :) Other tables around us also we notice a lot of malays and also thais' were having their meals there.

Damage for all this is close to RM700 for 2 tables. IF don't mind the price, do give it a try. Behind the restaurant, you can see they have a small vegetables farm of their own. Kitchen can see thru the big glass door. All handling are very clean and their service is even better than many other western/italians rest.

What not heard?.. last time I used to go there was 5 years ago after they expanded from humble beginnings where they were really not heard of and prices were fair, unlike when I was last there or now.
Its typical when big flashy cars start making a pit stop there..the proprieter knows damn well..good times are rolling in. If not mistaken, a table of 8 or more, plus good food will exceed RM200+ easily there...somewhere the prices one could incur at mid to posh restaurant. Its quite typical for a well to do family to splash that kind of money on eating out ONCE A WHILE... quite typical again. Restauranteurs are capitalizing on this local trend..why not?..business mar! most importantly..PROOOOFITTTTT!..

What's cheap in Malaysia nowadays huh? I had earlier made hints in another thread that price inflation is unbecoming and we're HURTING..just typical that hardly anyone wants to make hellava noise about it. Its like one getting pinched hard and trying best to withstand the pain.
I heard a full pack of Yee Sang is RM48 this year..is it?.. price up EVERY YEAR?..why?. Fish scarce?, fish double price?. ingredients shortage?.
I stopped buying years ago..they're not profiting from me.

Just realized..eating at roadside shack 14th mile Puchong Yong Tow Foo for 2 can cost up to RM20 over..WOW!.. didn't realize it can exceed RM10/head...looks like even a plate of EXPENSIVE Kayu Nasi kandar is some 40% cheaper..excluding drinks.

Can't deny that when reached there, there are posh cars parked around there and they have shades for them, land is fairly big there, I thought more of it like a house than a restaurant. People do business, who doesn't wanna make profit and even more if they have their own farm behind.

CNY time, everywhere is expensive but this is not the place to talk bout inflation. Authentic thai food, fine dining both are as costly but which is more filling? ITs all own preference I would say.

Paris is in PJ near ss2 area. If know where is Mango Jerry, its just opposite there. The place there around it is full of wedding shops.

Heavenly filling that nite. Their claypot lo shu fun is the wet type not dry, I say go wif their sambal is very nice and their ying yong is very diff from KL here. Is in dark sauce, lesser sauce, to me it looks more like hokkien ying yong but its nice.

Another cafe called HillTop which is nearby there as well, they have large variety of food there. I tried their satay and fried chicken wing is nice. Saw other table ordered char siew rice wif fried egg, looks good and pretty appetizing.

Sly, if I'm not mistaken, Baby Seafood is in Batu Belah. Can ask your friend for the full address tho. I do agree, the thai steamed fish is one of the best! It's like having a sauna facial bath at the same time :P and I really don't mind the waiting, well..just like waiting for the ss19's pan mee all the time. :)

Anyway, I've tried a few more dishes can't recall but there's this 'lai lui har' dish (Wee wee mantis prawns?) that's not bad.

oh yes, if you wanna avoid the long wait, go later, after 830pm preferably.

Does anyone know the pork noodles in SS15 very famous punya .. where have they shifted to? Since the hotel is under renovation .. all stalls are not there, don't know whether they will be back or they have shift permenantly.

If any of you do know bout their location, please keep me inform.

I've met the pork noodle auntie (the big size auntie with her hair tied up in a bun?) at TF. :p I'll ask her if I see her again. Kinda miss the pork noodle, but then again, I should stop eating such oily noodles and jue yau char. Hehe..

If anyone still patronizes the old shop in ss15 for makan, the duck rice, wanton mee, char kueh teow, and economy rice is pretty good. Except for the chee cheong fun, which is ok, but quite expensive. Anyway, I've always loved the thick iced milo.

mon
17-03-2007, 01:35 PM
Ya, the wantan mee is good there. The shop has been around for ages there, probably since Jaya Supermarket was opened.

Sai Lou, didn't know you mentioned this shop till now. I always ate there but now no longer since I became an usjrian. Just last week we were at Digital Mall and Cold Storage but we did not check the other end of the shops. So they are still there after all these years eh. I remember their fried wanton, sui kao and wanton mee to be quite delicious.

I had a very hearty lunch at Restoran Jaring Bandar Sunway a couple of days ago. They have one of the best malay salads and dishes. Just next door to it is a bubble tea shop. Had that too after lunch. Very appropriate location as I see many people buying their tea after eating at Jaring. :P

Had Chicken Rice at 8am in the morning in Kerayong which is in Pahang. Didn't know such a small town like that, people over there eat chicken rice so early in the morning and its nice. Haha .. only cost me RM2.80 wif drumstick!

Nite before that, was at Mentakab town, had dinner in this Restaurant called Dragon Tea House ... they served all kinds of things in the menu. I ordered their Japanese style rice (didn't notice that and thought it was a fried rice). So it came wif some of those teppanyaki stuff and it was suppose to be a SET but then it does not come wif drinks nor any soup. Portion was rather a bit small but the price is only RM4.50  Then rest of my friends ordered Set Indonesian fried rice and another is Thai fried rice .. lastly they also have western food which look the most appetizing Lamb Chop. Should have ordered that also. Each and every order also less than RM10

They also have this Longan wif Jasmine tea .. only the Longan and Jasmine tea taste. Mine is worst. Just the Longan wif plain water in it. Not sweet at all. :( Nice try but next time I think I'll skip that place unless I wanna have their western food.

Only recently I discovered a cold freezer at Carrefour Subang probably throwing stock of locally packed (maybe produced here..unsure) "Marina" brand sausages and Salisbury beef burgers.
Yep, its certainly more expensive than usual Ramli or Saudi or whatever local brand items BUT..its already twice that I've bought a pack of beef sausages (thousand apologies to any Hindu forumer who may read this). I'm quite amazed at the natural taste of this brand sausages. Its surely a good change from the "slightly over-spiced and salty Ramli" sausages which I'd always had a fairly good opinion of local produce. These sausages..TASTES RIGHT!.. not overdone like Ramli..I've yet to try the burgers..maybe tomolo lah.!

A fried egg, sauteed seasoned button mushrooms with onions topped with some parmesan, boiled mixed vege, a piece of lettuce, few slices of sweetish bread and butter...AHHHH!...lovely dinner last nite..after I aledy bingung what to have for linner..!.. Absolute bliss..Marina products..damn good!...from my personal opinion! surely buy again..if still available.

Buddy, Eden Garden is in JB there which is a duty free zon area. You can get chocolates and alcohol and cigg all under duty free rate. The rate is not the same as in KLIA, it would be slightly more expensive I would say but not all things. Anyway, when you're there, no where to go just around that area and since beer are so cheap there, you would stay and drink there too. Not to mention "good views" too. ;)

A pine of beer in Finnegans are almost the same price in Coffee Bean or Starbucks. Anyway, its my first time there, so a bit the 'jakun' as well. :o

This stall is operated by husband and wife. So the husband will take down orders and the wife will cook.

Must inform me bout "this" during time of 'Cheng Beng' huh .... anyway, nothing was felt or anything at all. I was hangin' around at the lobby till 12.30am with my friend after a good dinner at Khaleel. The mutton was chunky and tasty. And oh, telur sotong was also good wif the curry. Others that we try was tandoori chicken.

As I was coming back from Penang, I made a stop in Bercham, Perak. Went to Bercham food court for some light snack and drinks. So I saw this stall operating kinda big and they are making pau on the spot. Very fresh and very nice. I tried their very famous 'nam yu' pau. The bun was so soft and the pork in it were so tasty. Never had I try such good pau. Imagine that, they were there making it and people are there buying it. Its like immediate.

Definitely going back to Bercham even if am just passing by there to get the pau. Must try, must try ...

Early this morning was raining kinda heavy for over half a day, so decided to go Nikko Hotel for buffet but then the place was already fully booked. :( So change venue to Subang Parade TGIF. Ordered this Barberqued Rib Eye and Jack Daniel's sauce at the side for it. Normally they don't have it unless we request. Buffalo wings for appetizer and half a set nanchos. It was lovely.

When the ribs came, it had barberque sauce on it and the smell of well done rib eye was so good. Then I poured the JD sauce on the ribs even superb. That's just the way I like it. A bit sweet tho. For desert there is a chocolate malt cake & cheesecake. Simply delicious but was too full to finished it. Didn't wanna waste, had to ask them 'tapau' for me. :D

kokomo, I posted sometime back that I heard there is a stall in the new Mentari Business Park that is the sister or cousin of the SS15 pork noodle. I've tried it a few times, not bad but a little to salty/tasty for my taste, I like my noodle soup a little 'lighter' maybe u shd sample it and tell us how if u like it. I didn't confirmed if it is the real sister/cousin's stall but the noodle is close enough. The coffee shop is called "NPL", between Projet and Cash Converters.

Yeah, not to forget the yummilicious honey lime drink, 2 glasses of herbal tea and 2 bowls of flavoured tau foo fah - pandan & chocolate (don't ask, I can't fathom the need to flavour tau foo fah, but that's just me!)

I must say that the intestines were good - stir fried with garlic, dried shrimps and killer chili padi. If there's a reason to go back there, it has to be the intestines! (Sorry, Sakai, I know you are hoping I'd say it's the tau foo fah but they just don't cut it for me!)

What I need to add is that, as usual our eyes were bigger than our stomach. How else can you explain the amount of food we ordered, which could have fed half a battalion?

Went to S.Parade's Kopitiam in the IT centre...
ordered Nasi Kunyit with spiced chicken.. not too bad..
my gf ordered some korean-themed stir-friend noodles, which she describes as Shin instant noodles, with Cintan Mee goreng flavouring.. I took a bite and confirmed it..

for drinks, the sour sop with milk drink is not to my taste.. and they put way too much ice in their drinks!! even "less ice" comes out to about 3/5 glass of ice...
nothing special about their menu, with the regular nescafe, milo, "orange juice with Sacs" (peel fresh lar, duh!!), apple juice with aloevera bits (from fruit tree)

even tried the Butter and kaya bun, both butter and kaya was conservatively applied to the bun.. can barely taste it..

items on the menu makes you feel that you're eating whatever stuff you can easily get from carrefour supermarket, its just that someone prepares it for you, and you can pay that person...
my thumb's halfway down for this place..

I'd still prefer Jom Bali anytime..

Yesterday nite went to Wisma FGA, in front of the bus stop have few stalls and the best stall of all would be the prawn mee but its closed after 2 trips I went there. Anyway, there were other stalls available like grilled lamb and chicken wing and chee cheong fun with drinks and some deserts.

Ordered some grilled lamb and considerably ok for a stall like that to operate. Provide some chillie sauce and mint sauce. Lamb was pretty tender and juicy. Chicken wing was good just for light snack at nite.

Next time would definitely go back there again, since I missed having the prawn mee there twice.

2 plate - each plate is for 2 pax

3 person makan .... damn blardly full and good.

Yea, that's what I was mentioning about. Mostly this kinda places have all the best food around. I only know the prawn mee there is the best and the loh mee not bad as well. I don't see many people around there having hokkien mee. But definitely the new grilled lamb & chicken wing stall are not too bad.

went to tang house of fishball in damansara utama for lunch. very disappointed. a basic bowl of noodle with 4 fishballs, a slice of fish cake and a small lettuce is 4.50. there's side order of yong taufoo which can be added to yr noodles. pointed to a couple pieces..big mistake. found out later, one of the piece i pointed happens to be fish prawn cake and cost 6 rgt a piece and the other was fishcake which is 4rgt.. well it was a very expensive bowl of noodle ..it would have been ok if its good..it was not.. first and last time for me.. :(

Hi, I think we are refering to 2 different outlets! The one you refer to is next to the bus stop in front of FGA. I am refering to a single tai chow shack next to FGA. (on the right side if you face the road). They serve very good fried tong fun (with bittergourd on the side), fried pak kor with the crunchiest chi yau char!

Oh yeah, I think I know which stall you referring to now. Anyway, have already taken few of my friends to try out that place. Most of them enjoyed the food there especially the chicken wing and grilled lamb. Some nites like Wednesday and Thursday nites ... a bit kinda difficult to get parking also. Really packed.

Last few days, I went to Sari Tanjung which is in Taipan tried their food. I say not too bad and service is good too. Is actually Thai malay food. Something like Vichuda. Since now they are in Taipan already don't have to go Vichuda until so far. Pricing wise also very reasonable. Its just next to Ali Berkat or opposite Pizza vs Satay.

Ordered their:-
Petai with prawn sambal (prawns are big and fresh)
Telur dadar
Tom yam seafood (good)
3 white rice and drinks

Not more than RM35.

Will definitely go back there to try out more of their other dishes. And yes, they do have another branch which is in Taman Tun Dr Ismail and the name of the shop is called Santai

I just love one thing only. TOM YAM SOUP! Rest of it I don't really makan also. Anyway, I go there also cos I got ditched by friends who made appointment with me. Sigh!~ But it turned out not bad as well.

Now they are still new in Taipan, so there is no kuih and such yet. But they did mentioned they gonna bring in some nasi lemak and kuih muih soon. Yes, here also slightly cheaper than in Santai.

1. Salted egg prawns
2. Sizzling plate prawns
3. Fried egg w/ shark's fin
4. Vege
5. Thai style steam fish
6. Claypot bean curd w/ foo chuk & some mix vege
7. Pork throttle wif sauce

Serving for 10 pax. All good except for the steam fish, I find it a bit plain and less of taste n more of santan in it. I would say qualify of food here not to be compare wif Sg Buloh, LYJ Rest. It's totally different.

Late at nite, me & neighbor go for teh tarik and satay at Pondok Satay USJ8. Its perhaps the best satay here (Hj.Samuri can MOVE aside), despite a slightly higher price than normal.
There's a BUT!. the size of the satay meat on the stick has been inconsistent and not entirely the same portion as before. I could eat up to 8 sticks to feel full, but now 12 sticks would be a comparison.
Its was quite chunky when they started off, but has drastically reduced in size by at least 20%, not that the price of chicken has risen drastically. Doesn't look worth the 60 sen/stick. Like the Canto saying.. "kam liew" ??

Due credit goes to their other dishes like various Nasi Goreng and even the Nasi Goreng USA.. its better than many mamak shops around here.

Just to let you satay fans know my most recent observation.

Its the row of shops just after the Pondok Polis USJ8.. 3-4 shops towards the far end lot. Look out for the signboard above the shop or you can look out for the satay burner on its kaki 5 corridor.
They don't display the satay but only take out to roast only when there's an order. That's a good practice as its protected from flies and what nots.

Kindly make a comment to them the satay meat portion should as chunky for their price and as seen when they first started off.. its inconsistent now and doesn't look worth 60 sen.
BTW, the beef satay is supposed to be very tender sirloin meat, hope it still is..which sets them apart from just about ANY other commercial satay vendor in the country. As mentioned earlier..their ala carte nasi stuff is quite good too.

NB..I ain't associated with them nor their pimp...just another satisfied customer now NOT wanting to go there too often.. its the local greasy food lah!.

I have the same feeling about satay hut, their satay is "mou tuck teng" but recently it had shrunken to similar size of other satay stalls. Last month I ordered about a hundred odd sticks from them for a party and it was a big hit with everyone coz its tasty n BIG. Ok folks, let you all into what after a chance chat with the boss himself.
There's been changes to the staff who are tasked with skewing the satay. Its not the same people as in the past. Different people, different portion.
Nevertheless I was hoping it would be as chunky as in the past, disappointingly its not.
If not mistaken, lengthwise it would roughly be about 4 fingers, so should the fler have a small hand?.

I tried this place few months ago, had a porky belly, the first few bites it was delicious but after that felt it was err...greasy...haha, too much of a good thing, I guess if it is shared it shd be ok. My little girl ordered a sun-dried tomato sandwich with mozzarella cheese, but they were out of mozarella n changed to cheddar, not bad either.

Food preparation was kinda slow that time, took a long time to serve, but the chef or partner personally come to ask if everything was ok after the meal which was a nice gesture. Pork items are good value for money, sandwiches considered kinda expensive as I recall.

They grill the food in an open kitchen so if u don't wanna smell like BBQ oink-oink u better sit way out front, not near the grills :D

Last 2 days, went on a food explore all the way to Petaling Street at midnite. There is this shop called Teng Seng Kee if am not mistaken, its at Jalan Sultan next to Swiss Hotel. To my surprise its quite packed there actually. And food is not bad. There were 9 of us.

So we ordered 2 claypot 'lo shu fun' (portion for 2) + 2 those wantan mee like noodles wif great roast pork (portion for 2) + 2 plate of that fried intestine + 1 plate of fried rice (portion for 1) + additional plate of roast pork.

Claypot 'lo shu fun' was good but then I think Murni of ss2 is better and the fried intestine in OUG there is better (more crispy). What is good is the roast pork and the fried rice. Really smells good and taste good. Anyway that plate of wantan noodle wif roast pork, nothing really special with the noodle except that the roast pork is there. Overall, tried once there is good enuff. And the damage, gosh! I think that amount paid there I rather go have a better meal for dinner. RM98

Anyway, this morning took an easy & slow drive to Bangsar. By 10am near Bangsar Village that place, parking is all full, have to circle a few rounds before I can park and enjoy my meal in Nirwaana banana leaf restaurant.

We had banana leaf rice with fried sotong, fish, chicken & masala mutton (really good & spicy). 4 pax there and with all this, I dare say this place in Bangsar here is cheaper than in Raju's Jalan Gasing. And its nicer too the food. Really long since I had the food there. Oh yeah, that is the only place I drink their rasam. Other place I don't find it nice. As for the nasi lemak, I say is ok only. Not really that fantastic but they have wide selections on what you want other dishes you want to put. This place is right opposite Bangsar Village and next to TMC.

its really EXPENSIVE.

Yes, dining out is getting costly in this country as the demand and people's yearn for good food is rising. Japanese, Italian, Korean or other foreign cuisine would be among those which the prices unlikely will go down.
Should the food use imported ingredients like cheese, cured meats, sauces and others..the prices would be high and only for those who can afford.
Sadly, this country depends a lot of imports for fine dining.
What do we have left from our own agriculture, cottage industry or the sea?.. Vegetables from highlands or towgay(not enough to feed the whole country), Belachan, tofu, budu, keropok, ikan bilis and salted fishes (we get CRAP quality at the market) & Maggi mee???.. Many essentials are imported!. Jeezzz.. do everyone realize this country is now in shambles!. All we need is some sanction and every Malaysian will suffer hunger!.
I think Thailand and China are stealing our fish from the high seas and selling back to us..for profit!.. certainly not a matter to scoff at!.

Can you tell me how to get there? Tried looking for that place on Sun, couldn't find it. From Dsara Perdana, I took left at the traffic light (right going to TTDI), is that the correct turn off?
ThksKitkat, from D'sara Perdana or LDP just take the Penchala Link to KL.

Take the Sg. Penchala exit, dont pass through the tunnel.

Turn left, dont go into TTDI.

Follow the road into the kampung. Turn left again at the next lights (at the masjid)

Take this road out of the kampung and pass under the highway, drive about 4-5 minutes. Restaurant is on the left side.

You may want to call first tho...ask about how many people are there...make a reservation, it will save you hassle later...the little rooms need reservation.

Cheers, m

or you can try out...following allurban's directions to sg pencala..sambal hijau, next to the mosque for padang food or for the more popular one, after turning left at traffic light(where the mosque is)..go further down and you can see cherry on your right, just before the underpass..also nasi padang and they are famous for their beef soup/noodles...been many write ups on that. lunch time is chock-a-block.me think it will be cheaper than bora asmara! :D

Indeed Madam Kwan in Bangsar, their famous Nasi Bojari is good. ;) Portion was big and it came fast. For all those who are impatient to wait for their food and pretty hungry until 'beh tahan' should order that dish. It came in like in only bout 5mins after we've made our orders.

What i like most is their super duper big drumstick, a lil beef rendang and the sambal prawn. Anyhow, I do find their bojari rice is something like bryani. Best part is if we go there late, not that many people ... you can actually go up to their 1st floor dining area and sit outside the balcony. Nice view from there. See the cars line up to make jams, people walking in and out of the Bangsar Village and Coffee bean is directly opposite it. Tho i've not try their nasi lemak but i think it won't be that bad either only bad thing is the price for a nasi lemak.

Now have to think where is the next stop for food explore.

Tried a restaurant called Bibiwok in Bandar Puteri, Puchong. It is located opposite the Bumbu Bali restaurant if u know where that is. It features fusion Peranakan and Thai cuisine.

I ordered the Sup Itik Tim which was very original. The Ayam Ponteh was also good and u must try the Curry Fish Head. I actually requested for the Tenggiri Cili Garam but was sold out. The Cincalok omelette was only so so. This place is worth the visit. Service was a bit slow when it was busy but once the crowd slowed down, service was personal with the staff coming to chat and checking for feedback.

Worth trying.

Last Saturday I went to Dragon-i at Sunway Pyramid located near the ice skating rink.

Food : 4/5
The food was tasty though all in small portions..
I love the fried durian.. :P
The sweet 4 layered pork was mouth watering..
The Mangoo desert was heavenly.. not sweet, just lovely.. :)

Service : 3/5
They are low on staff.. took me like 15minutes waving my hands like a mad-man just to order.

Ambient : 3/5
So so saja.. not so noisy as the waiters all using wireless walkie-talkie.

Value : 2.5/5
Abit expensive for all the small portions of food.

For Dragon-i don't expect the price to be reasonable cos it will not but what you can do it order what you think is worth and is nice. Hmm .. but fried durian? Have not really tried such dish even when I was there I didn't see it on the menu also. Maybe is a new dish.

Gosh! Now they have Bibiwok? I've not even tried Bumbu Bali yet. And this plan has been there since months back. Have to really make an effort to go there already.

Hey folks!.. any of you folks luv cheese?
For those who don't know anything about great cheese flavor other than processed sliced cheese... stop reading on.
Ok.. Me was a IKEA few days ago and got myself a bar of SWEDISH cheese and its going on offer for RM9.50 a BAR!.
How does it taste?.. EXCELLENT.. certainly not like Italian variety but its their own version of slightly vintage cheddar. For those who've eaten Kraft Cracker Barrel cheese..the taste is somewhat similar BUT this one's smoother and nutty flavour. There's 2 types there. Red and Black label pack. The black labeled is vintage and sharper taste. Either one is still good!.
This is a real bargain!.. YES..it looks like its going to expire in 2 months time (as on date) but DO I CARE?.. Nope!.. it tastes good!.VERY GOOD and MUCH CHEAPER. Should be think those French or Danish flers think about expiry when storing their blue veined cheeses in caves for a year?.
One ain't going to find a bar of cheese for less than RM10 anywhere ELSE!. Its about RM15 more or less for Cracker Barrel.
(THANKS to ANWAR when he was Finance Minister..he told everyone to eat more Nasi Lemak and Mee Goreng than Cheese, so raised the taxes at budget speech).
Malaysia don't have a wide selection of cheeses except Cold Storage who have them but at astronomical prices. Here's your chance to get some IMPORTED natural cheese at BARGAIN PRICE!...from IKEA.. least place one would expect.. its located at the mini restaurant area front of the main cashiers of IKEA. There's lots of other interesting foodstuffs from Sweden there and currently at bargain prices...NOT found anywhere else.

Ok..Here comes how I savor block cheeses.. I slice then to bite sizes, toast some bread and make a butter + Chivers strawberry jam sandwich with these cheese slices in it..lots of it.. than EAT LAH!.. that's what I've been having for MIDNIGHT SNACKS!.. YUMMY!. :D :D

Just had the best home-cooked devil's curry (crab) :D Actually, I think it's in nyonya style cos it has pineapple and tomato inside. Before weekend has started I'm already satisfied. :)

Earlier went to Margaret YTF for lunch. I guess am really bored around in Subang till I willing to go there and try out their YTF. Ordered their famous

1. paper wrap chicken (good)
2. sang choy (every plate of vege is standard only RM5)
3. YTF mix inside

I specially like their foo chok which is very thin and looks like in a slice but when you have the first bite of it. Damn nice!
Another dish which I didn't actually know they have is that "tau kan foo chok" but I prefer their plain foo chok deep fried anytime. The sauce for the YTF when it comes, I find it a bit salty today but soup was quite ok. Can see almost every table there also will have their YTF with rice.

This place is so much better than Ampang YTF in Taipan except for their space limitations, if its packed then better have plan B or just wait.

Finally, managed to go with a friend to savour the Seremban Beef kueh teow again and it was quite nice. The last time went to Seremban was with the USJ group to K.Pilah (almost a year ago already!):)

Tried also at Wong Soon Kei at SS14 and it was also nice.

Both are different in tastes as the serving can be a little bit different.

Hope to try the Penang's soon:)

there was an article in the star last week talking about a 'teochew porridge' place at ss19 (tong le garden) which is right behind the hong leong bank building.

the only variety was the ikan parang porridge (RM6), ikan bawal whole porridge (RM13), pork porridge (RM4.50 if i m not mistaken) and chicken with century egg (RM 3.50 i.i.m.n.m)

taste was only acceptable and not befitting the write up. it opens from 7am - 3pm and closes for two days (wed and thu) every 3rd week of the month, as told by the owner raymond lee. (he even has got a business card)

cuba satu kali tau kalau mau dua kali. go and try...

Wong Soon Kei is in ss14 and it's facing the main road across to ss15. The row that has 2 bicycle shops. Middle lane you can't miss it.

Yesterday went to K3K Benta Kaya and the style is like a new age of kopitiam from Pahang. Supposedly specialise in their KAYA. Quite a number of people are there enjoying the environment but then the food and drinks is not up to standard of demand for Subang people.

I ordered half boiled egg, soft bun toast, normal bread toast and coffee (all sux). Half boiled egg is not really cooked, both bread and buns suppose to have thick kaya (since is their specialty) and butter but is just a mere spread on it. Coffee there ain't nice at all service is bad. When want to order other food in the menu, they will tell u this and that don't have or sold out.

The menu itself is already pretty confusing for people to read, have to really focus and take your time to go thru it. Personally I don't think this kopitiam shop will last. And it's in ss15 same row as Ambank.

Last Saturday, my partner and I went to Berjaya Times Square to look at for LEGO.....while we were there, we went to our favourite shop, Rock Delight. I had the Curry Noodle. The gravy is thick and the portion is genereous. My partner had the Seafood Curry with rice. There were prawns, sotong, fish slice, and vege in the curry. Very very yummy......
Will go back there later today for my dose of Curry again.

Just came back from Kota Kinabalu with a friend of mine for 4 days. For 3 consecutive nights we were having seafood dinners only. The seafood there was fabulous and fresh from aquarium. You can select your likings ie prawns (many types ie mantis, tiger etc), lobsters, sea fishes, oysters, snails(not sure what do u call it, similar to de Japaneses serving in Rakuzen but with shells), and many more. :):p

I didn't know KK has so many seafood restaurants and so nice:) The prices were reasonable. I'd definitely try again next time.

By the way, the seafood restaurants were located near the seaside area at the heart of KK. You use the main road behind the Hyatt hotel where we stayed and it's located abt 3-4 km away towards Sutera Harbour Resort/Airport direction. There's Le Meridien nearby. They have few seafood restaurants along this road and they are big and mostly are good:)

God bless Sabah..:)

hey, that sounds like a good spot to satisfy my curry cravings! :D

If you wanna go, the restaurant is on the 3rd floor. The curry noodle is only available during the weekends. And it goes very fast.
They usually have different specials each day. I tried the Yam kueh fried like the raddish(Cha kuew)....also damn nice.....but cant finish.... :D
