Brainwashing In Police Force That Extinguishes Evil & Creates Good ( 10/11/05 )
KUALA LUMPUR: Policemen must now wear button badges with the words Saya anti-rasuah (I'm against graft) inscribed on them or face the wrath of the top brass.

This is part of a campaign to wipe out corruption in the police force.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Musa Hassan said disciplinary action would be taken against any police personnel who failed to pin the button badge above his or her nametag.

“All police contingents have been issued with the button badges, as well as car stickers with words Lapor Jika Ada Rasuah (Report if there is corruption) for Mobile Patrol Vehicles.

“With the badges and stickers prominently visible, we hope the public will not be party to corrupt practices,” he said.

A policeman at the Kuala Lumpur traffic police headquarters showing off his anti-corruption badge with the words `Saya Anti Rasuah' (I'm against graft) while his colleague (behind) pastes an anti-corruption sticker on a motorcycle. Police now have to wear the badges as part of a campaign to wipe out corruption in the police force. Report in Page 3 — STARpic by LOW BOON TAT

He said all state and district police contingents were also provided with four types of banners – Polis Bermaruah Tanpa Rasuah (Honourable police above corruption), Jangan Memberi Dan Menerima Rasuah (Don’t give and take bribes), Rasuah Polis? Anda Akan Didakwa (Bribe the police? You will be prosecuted) and Rasuah Membawa Padah (Corruption does not pay).

Musa, who was wearing the button badge, said about 50,000 badges and stickers had been distributed to all the contingents so far.

He said all state police chiefs and Officers in Charge of Police Districts must make sure that they and their men pin the badges on their uniforms.

He said the anti-corruption campaign would be a permanent feature in the police force, and advised all personnel to serve with integrity.

“We are here to serve and protect the public, especially the victims, and we must do it with sincerity. We must not give in to greed.

“The public can and should remind policemen that corruption is an offence and that they (the public) do not condone bribery.

“If anyone has any information that our men are on the take or have demanded kickbacks to prevent action from being taken, they can write to me or contact me, and provide details of the alleged offence as well as the names of the policemen,” he added.

The deputy IGP also warned the public against attempting to bribe his men.

He said police were aware of such cases and would not hesitate to haul the culprits to court.

Those with information

on corruption can contact

the police at 03-2262 6555, 03-2262 7555 or 03-2031 9999.

i am sorry, i cannot believe that a little badge can stop graft...............ACA must be given the authority to prosecute offenders.

BUT if it works, then i wud suggest the all govt servants + politician to wear one too.

Dear o dear..when they said they were serious about ridding corruption..I held my breath and hoped they meant it... and waited for some serious solutions and smart strategies.

So now we have Institute of Integrity and boy scout badges for police.

Maybe the badges have some magical powers to make polis incorruptible.

Another weekend joke for bbc news.

SKI, please don't be angry with bbc on this if bolehland want to make a fool of themself.

We give praise to them, at least the police already taking concrete steps & positive efforts to improve themselves.

In any activity, to continue with tenacity & patience is important. Those with tenacity will win, those without will lose. Whether it can work or not, time will prove it !!!

Err...sometimes...Orchi feels that press people are merely there at press conference to record statements...ahem...why wouldn't they think of some freaking logical questions to ask the speakers...???

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Musa Hassan said disciplinary action would be taken against any police personnel who failed to pin the button badge above his or her nametag.

He said all state police chiefs and Officers in Charge of Police Districts must make sure that they and their men pin the badges on their uniforms.

Ahem....what would happen to police personnel enforcing laws n orders...without wearing their uniforms...???

Err...what would happen when they 'normally' would hide even their freaking name tags...underneath their jackets...???

Err...so for those found by the public to be NOT wearing any tag that says..."saya anti rasuah"...what happens next...should the personnel be held in contempt...right on the spot?...then who is to enforce such things...the higher ranking officers...are normally nowhere to be seen in any of the so called..."operasi"...???

n what sorta disciplinary actions...would they be referring to??...dismissal without doing time or pay hefty penalty...???

Now...if this is one of the 'end results'...arising from that freaking Royal Commission inquiry....err...Orchi wouldn't wanna bother with any further suggestions that they may have instore in the coming future...to counter graft...

you know how we have those red ribbons for AIDS awareness and pink ones for breast cancer, maybe another colour for "anti graft".

Its time we let our friends and family know our stand on this. Not gonna be very popular for a long time i think if i start reporting ppl for giving out bribes.

It's a good move and shows resolve in the person of Datuk Musa Hassan to stamp out corruption. I'm sure it will impact the policemen and people contemplating bribing to a certain extent. No method is foolproof and it's a good step forward. Syabas Musa Hassan!

Err...this may come NOT as a surprise to anyone...came across a group of traffic policemen...doing their "usual" rounds of enforcement "operasi"...err...unless Orchi is cockeyed or something like that...but sure couldn't notice any freaking "saya anti rasuah" badges...on them uniforms...otherthan those ranking stripes or emblems on their shoulders...which are supposed to serve a rightful purpose...entrusted for them "To Unhold Laws n Orders...To Serve n Protect"...

Err...heard over the radio news...that only 5% of the nation's total police force personnel...are found to be corrupted...n appropriate actions have been taken against SOME of them...while the rest are being investigated:p

Geez...from the sound of that statistics...we could be doing better than Singapore already for that matter...???

I would like to see details on how the contract for printing those stickers and manufacturing those buttons was awarded and who it was awarded to.

There appears to have been no open procurement whatsoever.

Report on STAR

Police made me strip, says Chinese national

BY PARVEEN GILL

PETALING JAYA: A 35-year-old housewife claimed she was forced to strip at a police station in Sungai Buloh, and that several policemen and policewomen there had also taken her money.

This alleged incident and a complaint by a remisier that an investigating officer at the district police headquarters here had asked for a bribe surfaced barely a week after all police contingents were supplied with button badges against graft.

Without proper check and balance system inplace and empowerment of people, I dont see there will be any improvement from the so called enforcement officers! Bribery will keep on going daily by hundreds, probably thousands...every during the recent Ops sikap, 5 of my friends was stopped for either queue jumping or driving on shoulders, yet they came thru by giving duit kopi..some even to the extend of 5 bucks! made it!...hmmm apa lagi nak kata?!

Err...wow...4 days in the freaking police lockups!...what a dreadful experience faced by an innocent victim of those circumstances...where many more had suffered similarly or worst before...but chose to remain silent over their freaking ordeals...:(

But of course the police would still say that...only 5% of their TOTAL personnel(including administrative staffs) were found to be corrupted...

Err...Wonder if the figure(statistics) would also include those many found to have broken the very same laws that they were supposed to uphold...by committing n involving in various serious crimes over the years...such as lootings...robbery...raping... extortions...thefts...n murder!

Ahem...then again sorry for the slight digress...as this thread is ALL about fighting grafts...by means of issuing so called tags...to all police personnel...that says..."saya anti rasuah" niah...

Emmm......good point there......if u r in a position to kena balik the police and to make sure they pay for their corrupt......then don't pay the fine/bribe..........

But on the other hand......if u don't have the means to fight back......just be smart and let go.........Sun Tzu's Art of war.......when situation is unfavourable........back off.......sometimes backing off is not a sign of cowardice........just a strategy to hit back like a storm over your enemy........If i m in the same position as the remisier......i will do the same thing......since nothing much to lose doing so........hehehe :D .........but more to gain.......

Don't jump to conclusions yet. This is still an allegation until proven. Frankly i find it very hard to believe the police would go to such extreme of getting money. I know of police corruption and it is also very rampant. But they normally do it in a very subtle way... not so daring like described here.

i also know many policemen who do not accept bribes. One of them rose to become CPO of a state before he retired. When he was a junior officer, there was one case one guy walked into his office and offered him money. He arrested the guy.

First, the Chinese boy murder case and now this. Both are highly sickening even for locals, how do you think the Chinese will feel.

Proof or no proof, when this news hit the middle kingdom, bye bye to Chinese tourists.

Wonder what the gomen would do if a similar complain and allegation came from a blond hair gweilo????. That of course won't happen. How can any mata mata here have balls to talk to a gweilo let alone detaining one under such circumstances.

Speaking of which, I've had a similar experience with a couple of policemen not too long ago..The first thought that came to my mind when I was stopped was 'Oh Oh..why me..' :p Actually it was my fault, of course, for speaking on the handphone instead of using a handsfree cos I misplaced it somewhere..but not an excuse I know.
One of them came towards me with his summon book and all..His first words were something like 'Do ya know you were not supposed to ....etc' and after that he actually waited for me to explain myself and apologised.. :o
Then he let me go..after giving me some very good advice about the dangers of using a handphone while driving etc..
Not saying all of them are as nice, but perhaps we should be taking a look at ourselves sometimes..really, we shouldn't allow them any reasons to stop us in the first place..

What is the penalty if a cop is found guilty of corruption or abuse of power?
Maybe the penalty is not severe enough to deter them... perhaps if they are found guilty , take away their pension.... that shud stop them.

Anti-Corruption Campaign In Police Force
Brainwashing In Police Force That Extinguishes Evil & Creates Good ( 10/11/05 )

KUALA LUMPUR: Policemen must now wear button badges with the words Saya anti-rasuah (I'm against graft) inscribed on them or face the wrath of the top brass.

"Former Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Rahim Noor, was found guilty and sentenced to two months jail and RM 2 000 fine for assaulting Anwar Ibrahim while in detention on March 15, 2000. Members of the public and NGOs were stunned by the apparent light sentence. Rahim Noor later filed an appeal to set aside the custodial sentence in which a decision is expected to be made by High Court judge Datuk Zulkefli Ahmad Makinuddin on December 15th."

Why did they have to commit these offences in the first place!!!!! these are the people who create accidents and deaths!!!!!!

True, its an offensive act, but what provokes their act?! There is where more work need to be done..

One, is improve the road system to reduce massive jams which has become our daily routine in klang valley! Try driving in rural area, or even when I was in kulim ( 15 yrs back), there was probably less than 1% queue jumping, and driving on sholders even though the trffic came to a stall due to some accident or other mishaps/half road closure…

But when one comes to KL the attitude changes due to the traffic condition here…hey it take me 1.5 to 2 hrs to travel 33km, don’t you think that’s ridicules?!

The only way to improve is to half alternative routes (parallel) and eliminate tolls, by averaging the cost into road tax, which is meant for road usage…right?

If really can’t do it, then provide every commuter with smartag, and there wont be as much as traffic halt at tolls…those who needs ticket, to claim from office wither use online billing system to claim to have companies standardize traveling and toll rate so no prove need to be shown…hey…I know many would jump high/low criticizing this suggestion, many western countries could do it…so why cant us?

Then have proper police enforcements…and road monitoring system (CCTV), so any wrongful act by either the police or commuters cane be caught by camera and used as prove. Empower commuters to also upkeep the law and order, whistle blowers should be protected and complain made by them should should be handled mannerly.

Every police car should be fitted with camera and the recording should be turn on in order for the arrest or stop to be valid…

I could go on on on…if someone want to vote me to be the PM…then I boleh implement all said..amacam?1
:D :D
