Took my mum for a free hearing test at Audiolab [Amcorp Mall] recently.
[just mention ad from Star ]

Only Siemen's products available with prices ranging from rm600+ to > 20K
depending on the flwg:

- ITE [in the ear]
- BTE [behind the ear]
- Analog/digital or fully digital

Would be very helpful if any forumers can provide some feedback/guidance on
- some common complaints/problems
- maintenance requirements
- product lifecycle
- other brands

Thanks in advance.

Hello there!

From what I know, siemens hearing aids are very expensive. Do buy digital hearing aids because analogs are a thing of the past. ITE is more expensive than BTE, but ITE looks better because it's inside the canal. However, you will have to ask your mom on what she prefers and she can try them out before making a decision. Some people may feel having something inside their ears to be annoying, which shouldn't be much of a problem because the ear moulds are custom-made.

Why don't you try other brands?

A few months ago, I wanted to get a hearing aid from this company called "Best hearing aid centre Sdn. Bhd.". The staffs there seemed to be nice, they even helped me in applying for government welfare to cover the cost of my hearing aid, which was very expensive due to its complex technology.

Anyway, I was having financial problems so they quoted me many versions of the hearing aid with varying prices, all of which were by different imported brands. The best for my condition was one that costs RM6,850. Some of the other quotations went as low as RM1,000+. Thus, I believe that they deal with a broad range of brands. Don't be frightened by that price though. It was so expensive due to my unique condition that involves the absence of hearing nerves in the brain. Mine was a biCros hearing aid.

This company is also contracted by General Hospital Kuala Lumpur. When a patient at the GHKL ENT department is found to be in need of a hearing aid, a staff from Best hearing Aid will be called to see the patient at the hospital. Further consultations will be done at the hospital while the hearing aid is custom made at the company, but sold to the patient at the hospital. So you can trust the intergrity of this company since it's affiliated with a government hospital.

Here are the details...
