I just got this in the email and I thought it best to share :

Pakistan Earthquake Death Toll Doubles, Expected to Increase
"Aid urgently needed, thousands without shelter in below-freezing temperatures"

Three weeks after a deadly earthquake shook the Kashmir region of Pakistan and India, officials there have doubled the number of victims to nearly 80,000 as reports continue to flow in from remote regions.

The number of dead is expected to increase as hundreds of thousands - including an estimated 120,000 children - remain unreached by aid of any kind. Snow has started to fall in some high-altitude villages, and nighttime temperatures are dipping below freezing, yet thousands remain without shelter, food or medical help.

Native missionaries assisted by Christian Aid have been in place since the disaster, lending what assistance they are able to homeless and injured victims. They continue relief work today with what resources they have.

Many in the international community have turned their attention away from this disaster, even though some observers have said that the fallout from it could rival that of the tsunami. Over three million Pakistanis are homeless, and thousands remain isolated in mountain villages with no access to aid. One news source recently reported the story of villagers who were forced to dig through landslide debris for eight days to clear a path for transporting injured to the nearest clinic.

Please consider giving to native missionaries’ earthquake relief efforts. They are in a unique position not only to provide emergency care but also to bring spiritual healing through Christ. Visit http://www.christianaid.org/ or call 1-800-977-5650 to make a contribution.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.” Psalms 46:1,2

Here's a thought, if you do get any duit raya, why don't you set it aside and donate it to the Malaysian Red Crescent Association's South Asian Earthquake Fund (http://www.redcrescent.org.my/)

Had a thought....

With the freezing temperatures set to fall and winter around the corner... why not start a One Home One Comforter Subang - USJ collection drive... I think at least half of Subang Jaya & USJ would have one comforter to spare... :)

I have seen good intentions go to hell when it comes to collected $$$$ but with blankets and comforters... at least MRCS or Mercy will make sure it gets there

Well thats a thought... err... maybe a Post Raya or Pre Christmas project perhaps.
