Looks like no one here is familiar with Paypal as I received no answer from my Paypal thread.

Any regular Ebay buyer here bidding on US items? How do you send money to US seller? What are my option beside credit cards?

Is electronic transfer to a US bank account (i.e. paperless fund transfer from bank to bank) expensive? What about the bank charges for a US postal order? Which one of the two is better (or cheaper)?

What's wrong with paypal, i've used it several times to make purchases, no problem. The problem you have is when you want to withdraw money from paypal, US ppl have no problem with it, just us. So purchasing with paypal is ok but not selling.

sorry if i didn't reply but my paypal + Ebay experience was in the UK. I strongly advise you against using paypal/Ebay in Malaysia. No laws to protect you. At least in UK they have solid e-commerce laws. And the Brits are decent people anyway :)

Buying via Paypal should be OK. You can complain to Paypal if there's problem. Worst case scenario, you can make a chargeback directly via your credit card (though Paypal would like you to go thru them for any complaint).

If you use other payment methods like TT, postal order, Western Union, etc, you would not be able to do anything if they take your money and don't send anything to you.

Hi, kress, thanks. I used ebay UK (minus the Paypal) before while I was there. Just as you said, most of my ebay transactions were successful without any problems. I am also wary of Malaysian attitudes on Malaysian ebay sites here, (example, I email out enquiries on items, they are not bother to reply etc. this type of attitude never happened to a US or UK seller before from my personal experience.). But I will not have problem anymore as all my intended purchase will be mostly on items listed at US sites.

Hi, Pets=Friends & keith. Regarding PayPal, what do we need to open an account with PayPal and start bidding? Is credit card necessary to open PayPal account and start bidding? You see, when I started to register with PayPal, they stated I can give my credit card info later, I mean how I am going to pay for my purchase if I won a bid? And I did noticed some US sellers stated on their item for sale they only accept PayPal within US soils and international bids must be paid by other means such as bidpay or credit card. Why is that so?? Isn't PayPal = credit card? (afterall, isn't Paypal takes from our credit card???) Am I missing something??

What about selling, do we need a US bank account to sell on ebay? Any experience? Or, in another word, can we sell using PayPal as a method of payment from buyer throughout the world?

I've used ebay for purchases from U.S., Australia, U.K. and Malaysia as well. For the international purchases, I always use PayPal. for eBay malaysia, they normally ask for payment into their bank acct, however, a few of them do prefer to transact thru paypal as well.

i normally check their feedbacks, for both international and and local ebay.

it might be a bit of a hassel to register and verify for a paypal acct, but it's worth the trouble.

happy shopping ;)

Firstly you need to upgrade to a seller's acct on ebay.... not sure what is required.. probably some cc number... then you can start advertising on ebay...
they charge you according to the duration that your product is on the site..

Vixey, I think it is not difficult to list your items on eBay and has someone bid on it. I done that before in UK and local trading in UK is a breeze. The problem here in Malaysia is how to get the money from UK or US. I asked local bank about money order or personal checks from US, they told me it will takes about a month to clear a US checks! Talking about instant access and sharing data on WWW!! We are still banking on the late 20th century!! The big hurdle now is how you are going to explain to your US buyer we will only be shipping out his/her item after 30 days (bank clearing) + 7 days (he sents check through mail) + 14 days (item shipping through post)?

Hi Cosmit Dust,

I provided my credit card info when I open an account with PayPal. As and when I make a transaction using PayPal as payment mode, I would be asked to verify my credit card details again.
