I was wondering, how do you all find the services at carrefour?? For me, I find the services there sucks. I have seen the supervisors there arguing with the customers countless of times..normally disputing about sales items....Once I saw a supervisor shouting at a lady customer because she wanted to buy more than 2 packages of milo that was on sale. I think it was for 2 per customer, per trolley. She may not have understood the concept but the supervisor was wrong to be shouting at her.
And frankly, the " per customer, per trolley" concept is dumb.....So if two people wants to share a trolley, cannot buy the same item on sale??

Hi
You are lucky if you dont like Carrefour, you have a choice of Giant, Tesco at Puchong or Shah Alam and other small supermarkets scattered in SJ/Usj

Rules are rules syltel, they should be obeyed. Afterall, the seller can set the rules and if customers not happy, can go elsewhere.....

One of the reasons why such 'limit to 2 tins' rule are set is because the supplier to the outlet or the outlet itself wants the 'special offer' to be enjoyed by their customers and also to attract more shoppers. As we all know, some coffeeshops and other retailers go to the outlet and sapu all the promotional items (if they're not LIMTED BY QUANTITY), thus depriving you and me of the promotional goods on offer.

Hi, true...I prefer giant but driving to giant is a pain because of the traffic.Always, I wont know what time I can reach there and what time I can arrive home
I agree, carrefour is bigger and certain items are cheaper...I just feel the services there should improve.
By the way, what is the proper pronounciation for carrefour??? I have heard it being pronounced as carry-four, car-foo, care-four....any light on this?? I dont speak french...so.......

Yes, I agree the per customer rule..that is done everywhere..but the per trolley?? At times, there are hardly enough trolleys and baskets around.Once, two customers shared a trolley. It was a sunday and no available trolleys around.Among other things, they each wanted to get a carton of soft drinks that was on sale. They were going to pay it separately. A supervisor came and just started shouting at them that they were not allowed to do that. They tried explaining the situation but he refused to listen, continued shouting and took one of the cartons away. Was that right?

My rating are as follows from best to worst - tesco, carrefour, giant.

Carrefour is definitely better than giant. You can't get refund with giant quite easily as carrefour. Carrefour supervisor can speak english but not giant.

I think you are just unlucky to meet a nasty supervisor, that's all.

I am in two minds. Personally, Carefour is my favourite supermart. But I too had my share of a rude supervisor. He was supposed to be the head of the supermarket fruits section. Dark fella with moustache. Not sure if the same guy. Bloody rude. Not sure early this year or late last year. I tried calling the GM to complain but just couldnt get through. Damn rude bugger. If I get the chance, I will still lodge a complain as I still all the facts. But I cannot allow one bad apple to spoil the whole bunch. Overall, as I have said, I have been quite happy with Carefour. Tesco too is quite good. Giant? Hopeless!! Countless bad experience. I dont go there unless absolutely no choice.

parking at car4 is more convenient for me..i can park at ss14 opposite near the pedestrian bridge or sometime inside their carpark..i sometime park there to avoid the traffic ...but of course giant traffic jam is the thickest...

But i hear that giant got the coupan system where u can buy and collect coupon which can redeem cheaper goods or other free items or buy one 2nd cheaper?
Like that bulk buying is better in Giant oh!

I saw also MyDIn is being built beside Giant USJ..Wow..Sure war war among them..! Keke..Hope we enjoy better deals!..Sure more jam?!

I prefer carrefour and I hate Giant. Sometimes they wrongly scanned the wrong price and I only realised it later when I reach home. Never cheat me with me money man. I remember that forever.

Beside that I feel that giant is too messy. too kelam kabut.

I am stuck with Car4. The service have gone down since a bunch of new Ah Mo too over. The previous bunch was always walking around. This latest bunch of chaps cannot even be seen at peak hours. Even the check out clerk was complaining about it.

Hypermarkets such as Carrefour, Tesco and Giant focus on giving low prices to customers. With that as it's objective, it has to cut costs in order to offer low prices. It never promised good service, but only low prices. With a limited budget, one cannot expect them to give good service all the time.

If one hopes to have a higher level of service, should avoid such hypermarkets and shop at supermarkets like Isetan and Jaya Jusco. If you get lousy service there, at least you can complain and more likely be heard as they sell their goods at a premium.

The difference is like flying MAS vs AirAsia, holing up at Shang vs Summit, dining at KFC vs hawker centre. You had your chance, you made your choice, you live with it.

Just my take on this matter.

No, this was a different guy. I spoke to one of the Frenchies who was making his rounds once, he was as useless as all of them were.At that time,I had another package where I had bought from SParade in my basket, My basket was darn heavy (out of trolleys) so, I put it down for a second to pick up a few cans of beer, when I turned back, my basket was gone!! I went all around looking for it, going to the cashiers, even speaking to the supervisor of the security guards. I was just anxious to get back my doggie shampoos that I had bought from pets wonderland...they cost me almost $60!! I thought someone had picked up my basket by mistake and might have left it somewhere else or kept my package at the cashier counter..Anyway everyone who was working there, was uninterested, then I saw the Frenchie told him about it...You know what he said??!! "All these people (Mentioned a particular race) always steal items to sell at the black market!!" He kept going..."Everytime, there just steal!!Terrible people, terrible!!They always do that, no shame!!" Then he walked off!! Excuse me?? How does he know it was that particular race that stole my basket??

Since this is the bash thread of Carrefour, lemme add on my bad experience at Carrefour. A few months ago, there was this craze to get those colorful plastic water bottle which carries the logo recycle 7 at the bottom of it. It's suppose to be better for health and not cancerous as those plastic mineral water bottle that i used. So i gave it a try as i was trying to be trendy with water bottles since i cant afford to be trendy with cars. I picked up one blue recycle-7 water bottle from a different floor i make my payment, sadly the scanning bar was on there to be found on my bottle, hence the cashier can't scan. He told me that this can't be scan as there should be a piece of paper having scanning bar should be tied to the bottle. He asked me to go back to that floor and get another bottle so he could do the scanning. I asked him to get one of his roller skating boy to do it ( yes, im lazy to go down one floor and i do need see why i should do it ) or even better still, they do have those scanning bar kept somewhere near to their cashing machine. He says no, can't do, i need to do it myself. Gotten frustrated, i asked him one more time, is he gonna get this bottle punched into the machine, he refuses, therefore i refuses the rest of the goods i have on my trolley and walks away, telling him the rest of the item he can keep them as im refusing those as well....sayonara.

I always check the price when I check out at Carrefour. Too many times have I found that their pricing system suck. They could display price A and when you pay it says price B. Most of the time, I just get the manager and start making a scene. At that point, they will apologise and sell me at price A.

Looks like Giant has followed Carrefour's Twice the Difference Refund Policy if we find the same stuff cheaper elsewhere... Now even more headache... Buy in Carrefour... then go to Giant and get rebates on cost differences and vice versa?

I am pretty sure that now we will see the cheapest stuff would be their own brand names so that you CANNOT find it anywhere else. Therefore no price difference... anywhere else!

Yeah...but everytime you ask for refund at Giant, big hassle. And the assistant will give you a dirty look and then seem to take ages. Car4, never a problem. No questions asked. Not that we always ask for refund. But when you do need one, never a problem at all! They really have an incredible customer service.

There was once I wanted a computer table. But the only one left was a bit damaged. The guy told me he would call me once the stock arrived. And sure enough. He called me back. Small little service like that is greatly appreciated and long remembered.

Now that I can vouch for... wanted to buy a foldaway bed once... but the stock never came in ... supervisor promised to call back the moment it came and he did !! Even gave me an additional discount for the inconvenience caused... :) Happy like a frog in the rain after that!!!

In one instance i discovered the price at the shelf was totally different form what I paid for, luckily a French staff was passing by and he was gracious enough to add another tin free for the error I pointed out. ;)
