Eating Out with Patrick

SOFTCORE - an evolution or revolution of taste ?

A New Outlet with unique recipes.
Posted on 07.47pm Sep 04, 2015

Beef brisket sandwich These days new food outlets sprout up as fast as old ones close down. And very often the same old tunes would waft through...another Thai food outlet, another pan mee outlet, another Japanese fast food outlet or another kopitiam type outlet.

It was thus a pleasant change to find a new food outlet with a totally new concept to whet our appetite. The name itself stimulates all kinds of thought, but I guess we have to hand to the younger generation to stimulate our thoughts and taste, all at the same time!! Hahaha!!

Softcore, located amongst shops specialising in the automobile detailing commercial area and the numerous universities and colleges, is not hard to locate though parking may prove to be a challenge during office hours. Perhaps the best place to park your car during these hours would be at the super new multi-storey car park at the Monash BRT Station Car Park (BRT Station 5). A short walk will take you to Softcore.

They dont have a big menu but one sufficient to meet your needs .. whether it's hunger or thirst! However, the menu to meet your appetite will change often enough so that a regular will not go hungry. On top of their Menu is their specialty...their Molten Cakes!! Soft, cruelly delicious range of what is commonly called lava cakes. What they offer is more than just lava, but a range of ingredients and fillings to meet the varied tastes. At least one of them is likely to melt your heart. I have only tried the dark chocolate and cant wait to dig in to the other flavours....top on my list is peanut butter..yum, yum ! I must confess I have a lust for anything with peanut butter! Then there is salted caramel, matcha and also white chocolate. So what will it be for you?

And if you are desirable of something more solid, try their Asian chicken sandwich or their Popcorn Chicken which is a seasoned skinless chicken chunks served with classic slaw and sriracha mayo. Their Parm Brulee eaten with their garlic-herb crostini (bread) is excellent. Their Beef Brisket is also very good except I find it a tad saltish towards the end.

Most of their sandwiches are served with fries that are so good, I thought they were Truffle fries! I am no fries person but their fries are excellent! Freshly fried with no hint of the usual cooking oil taste that often puts me off. I know it isnt very healthy but I couldnt resist it! If their fries are so good, I cant wait to try their Truffle fries...must be out of this world!

Those who love Shakes should check out their Chocobanana Peanut Butter, Honey Walnut and santan Red Bean flavour.

I will be going back to get my peanut butter Molten Cake soon but let me recover from my overdose first! To read more about their various servings, you may like to check out another Blogspot that has written extensively on this new outlet: http://eatdrinkkl.blogspot.my/2015/09/softcore-bandar-sunway.html

Bon Appetit!
